"AHHH!!!"

Pidge would yell out in pain as she started having contractions. She was moving in and out of consciousness as the pain washed around her. She saw blurry faces when her eyes parted slightly -laying on a bed of some kind in a bright white room. She must be at the infirmary in the castle.

Will she be okay? I thought she wasn't due for another 3 months?

That voice sounded like Hunk's for sure, even though it sounded muffled, like there was cotton in her ears, she could faintly tell who was speaking.

I don't understand.

That was Allura.

No wait I've seen this before. She's going into preterm labor, it happened to my older sister.

Lance.

So then what do we do? We have to do something!

Shiro.

Just hang on Pidge.. Okay. I need you to hang on...

He sounded so worried, so heart broken. Pidge could feel the strong grip of his hand on her own. Her eyes saw his face clear for a moment before succumbing to darkness once again.

———

"Oh man, Lance what do we do!?" Hunk asked in a panicked tone.

"Me? Why me?"

"You said you knew what this was can't you, I don't know, fix it?"

"I-I mean I've delivered a baby before, but not a premature one. There can be many complications and Pidge is too weak to do a natural birth. She needs a C-section!"

Lance may not have been viewed as the best or brightest paladin, he always finds a way to screw things up, but this was something he defiantly knew how to handle. His family was on vacation and his mother was due to give birth but they were in a barn, miles away from a hospital. Everyone was in panic but Lance stood up and took charge. But that was a natural birth, and he had the help of his family even though they were panicking. This situation was different, it could mean life or death.

"Lance, please. I hate to admit it but Coran and I can't do anything. We don't understand what this is. You are the only one who can help Pidge." Allura ushered.

Lance was defiantly feeling the pressure, he was at a loss for words. Everyone was depending on him now and many questions ran though his head.

What if he did do this but it when wrong? What if they loose Pidge, or the babies? What if they loose Pidge and the babies?! He wouldn't be able to live with himself.

"Lance." Shiro said sternly placing both his hands on his shoulders. Lance can feel the slight shaking he was trying to suppress. "It's okay. Just calm down. I know you're thinking all the possible way this could go wrong but don't. I trust you with my life and if Pidge could speak, I'm sure she would to. You've known her since the Garrison, if anyone can save her, it's you. So take a deep breath, think of what you have to do and do it."

That was it.

That was all the motivation Lance needed. This was Pidge his friend, ally, and little sister. He has to save her.

"Alright. But I need everyone to help out. Keith I need you to grab as many towels as you can find, Allura fill up a small tub of water, Coran I need you to get those pods you built, Hunk I need you to find a sharp knife and something thats close to alcohol -something to sterilize it with. Shiro, you stay with Pidge. Keep track of her vitals, if anything changes let me know."

Everyone nodded and went to work. They ran in separate directions as fast as they could, getting what they were told.

Shiro kept a hold on Pidge's hand and looked at her. He ran a gentle hand through her hair and let it move to her cheek, caressing it slightly and pulling his head forward so their foreheads touched.

"You'll be okay. Just stay strong. I'm not going anywhere." He promised.

She looked so frail in the state she was in, and Shiro felt powerless to help.

"I can't loose you again..."

———

Everyone, but Coran and Allura, were ordered to leave the room.

Shiro was pacing back and forth in the hall way while the others stood against the wall anxiously.

"Shiro, I didn't want to say this but can you please stop pacing!? It's making me nervous." Hunk said.

"We're all nervous, Hunk. That's our friend in there and we can't to anything to help." Keith boasted back, crossing his arms and looking away.

They were all feeling the pressure and anxiety as time teased them.

Tick after tick after tick of constant waiting....until...
