I've been seeing a lot of "thinspo" on instagram and tumblr recently, and I've come here to break a sense of reality in to some of the people who read this book (which is maybe 7 people), but either way I've come to speak the truth!

Skinny does not always equal healthy and happy. It can equal healthy and happy for some people, but there are sooo many different body types and bone-skinny doesn't fit on everyone.

Being healthy is a very important thing, don't get me wrong. I think you should do physical exercise at least twice a week on average and eat a relatively healthy diet. Being healthy and exercising doesn't mean trying to burn as many calories as possible so your collar bone looks like the Grand Canyon. You should exercise to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

I know this chapter is kind of all over the place, but basically all I'm trying to say is that it's stupid to judge a person's health by the size of their body. For me, a healthy body and happy life is having a little bit of chub under my chin and at my sides, but lean muscle because I naturally have a slender and petite frame. For others it's working for an hourglass shape because their body can support it, working on their back because they like muscular shoulders, just whatever makes you happy. I've never been a health nut but I do like my body. You don't have to worship your body and having the perfect frame to love it, you just have to love the body that you occupy as long as it's healthy.

That's all I'm trying to say, so thanks for coming to my ted talk
