Everyone knows that dreams aren't real. But mine are. I'm Doug. I live in LA California. Now, I wish my dreams were much less crazy, but they are quite the opposite. Every day when I wake up, I relive my dream. I just turned 17.
My best friend Melody gets slightly effected by the dreams with her in them. I've tried to stop them by taking medication, and once I even went 3 days without sleeping. I ended up passing out on my couch.
Its about 12:30 at night. I don't want to sleep, but my eyelids were growing heavy. I tried staying up on my phone, but I fell asleep with it on my chest.
~Dream~
I woke up in a dark room. It lit up and I saw Melody standing at the door. I was in my bed. "Melody, why are you here?" I ask. She walked closer to me, not answering me. She planted her lips on mine. I started shaking and pushed her away. "I'm sorry, y-you can't do this..." I said. She just came back and did it again.
I woke up, shaking. "Shit! Melody can't do this!!" I looked around. The room was dark. I looked at my phone. It was 3:00 am. The light flicked on and Melody stood in the door way. "Melody! It's three am! go back to bed!"
"I came here to do this~" She said in a seductive voice and planted her lips on mine. I shoved her away.
"You can't do this Melody!" I said, shaking. "Go back home!" A bit later, after kissing me more, she left. If I'm lucky, she won't remember what happened.. I think.
That day, I met up with my friends Brandon and Alyssa. They said they had something worth trying. They handed me a glass of something. They said it was called acid. I took it, and they did with me. About 35 minuets later, we were hallucinating and felt so high. They told me where to get more. We continued to trip out together for the next couple of hours.
I got my own stash of acid. I did it more when I was home, and before I went to bed. The more I did it, the more addicted I got. I passed out.
~Dream~
Running. I was running from something, for something. I stopped when I heard her voice. "Doug!" It was Melody! I turned around. She was on the ground. She looked like she was bleeding badly. "Help me please.."
"I-Its ok Melody! I got you! Lets go!" I said and picked her up off the ground. She wrapped her arms around me. I started running again. I found my self at the front doors of a hospital. "Please help her!" I yelled as I burst through the hospital doors.
They took her and asked, "how did this happen?" I just shrugged.
"She fell I guess. I didn't see it happen.." I said slowly. They took her into another room. "I-is she going to be ok?"
"At the rate she's bleeding, no." The doctor said.
I woke up in tears and shaking madly. "Melody!" I remembered my acid. Maybe this could help me. I took the addictive drug and started tripping out about 25 minuets later. I saw something unpleasing. It looked like a disfigured person. They started running after me! I ran.
I did not realize this was my dream. I heard her voice. She yelled, "Doug!" I turned around and saw Melody on the ground, bloody and continuously bleeding. I ran up to her.
"Everything is going to be ok.. Don't worry Melody.." I scooped her into my arms and ran to the hospital.
My dream finally came back to me. Melody was being wheeled into another room. "At this rate, she won't make it past a week. She's bleed too much already. Just hope our surgeons can patch up her wounds." The doctor ran off after Melody. I sat down in a chair, cursing at myself. I ran off into a bathroom. I took the acid I stored in my pocket.
I noticed somethings about it. It was a colorless, odorless liquid that tasted kind of bitter. It made you trip out though and it was great. I went back to the waiting room.
I screwed off on my phone for about 4 hours. A nurse came in the room and asked, "Do you want to see her?" I quickly got up and followed the nurse. She led me to her room. I saw that she had tubes and an iv bag hooked up to her. The nurse left the room with the doctors. They closed the door and started talking outside of the door.
She was definitely unconscious. I started tearing up. Then lightly crying. Then I bawled and hung my head. "D-damn it. . . Why you. . . Why me. . ." I bawled the words. I looked at her stitched up wound. It was a stab wound. "I-I'll find the person who did this.."
I stood up and pecked her on the cheek. Her eyes fluttered open. The doctors rushed in. "What happened? She was in a coma!" The started examining her.
"D-Doug. . ." She whispered and started to cry. The doctors rushed me out of the room.
That night, I had a dream I would call a nightmare.
I was sitting in the living room watching TV. I saw on the news that a man who had stabbed a woman by the name of Melody had jumped off a building, committing suicide. The man went by the name, Jack Star. He has been responsible for the murders of many women who he had raped before killing them. Melody had gotten out as his only living victim.
"Melody! Oh my god!" I got up and ran.
I woke up shaking. I was in the living room. The TV was on. I watched the local news to see if my dream matched up with the facts. It was all exactly the same. I took some acid and ran. I began to trip after 25 minuets. I was already at the hospital by that time. "C-can I see Melody?" A lady running the computer looked at the time.
"Your just in time sir. Visiting time has just started." The lady said. "She's in room 108."
"Thank you. ." I said and ran down the hallway. I made it to her room. I opened the door. There was nobody else in there. She was awake.
"Doug!. . ." Melody said, happily but with a scared voice.
"What happened to you?. . . Do you remember anything?" I asked worriedly.
"T-that man. . . I-I don't remember. . . I got stabbed, but that's all I remember. . ." Melody said sadly.
"I'll be right back, Melody." I walked out of the room and spoke to the doctor. "Do you guys know about what happened to her?" I asked them.
"She was raped and stabbed. Lucky she survived." The doctor said, shaking his head. "You brought her in just in time, or she would have died of blood loss."
"Damn that man!" I cursed. "When is she going to be released?"
"In about 2 weeks. Are you familiar with the man named Doug?" The doctor asked.
"Yeah I am. That's me." I said.
"Well, your all she ever talks about. Ever." The doctor stated. "Any conversation, she brings your name up. You must be very special to her."
"Really? I am her best friend.." I said slowly.
~About Two Weeks Later and another 50 acid trips~
"Yo, dude, where you goin'?" Brandon asked, following me about half way to the hospital.
"I'm picking up Melody. She's being released from the hospital today!" I said, and started to rush a bit more.
~About a week later~
Melody and I have started dating. She even moved into my house and is helping rebuild my life, piece by piece. She helped me with my acid addiction, although I still do it from time to time. She's recovering nicely, or at least the doctors said so. Melody has made my dreams stop coming to life. I guess that the medications that I was taking weren't working because they weren't Melody.
She's like a drug to me. The most addicting one I have ever taken. She helps with my anxiety and my problems. I guess you could say, I'm addicted to her.
