In a small village on the side of a mountain, there lived a little girl. This girl went by the name of, 'Elizabeth.' She a part of the royal family. Her village was not a normal one. All people had some magic. To some, this was a blessing. To others, it was a curse. But Elizabeth does not know what magic inhabits her, for she had never left the palace. She has 7 sisters. Her parents despise her, for they think that she has no magic. She has 3 older sisters and 4 younger ones. All of her sisters know what there magic is, but everyone thinks that Elizabeth has no magic.

Oddly enough, Elizabeth is the only one of her parents 8 children that was not named after a flower. There names were Rose, Lilly, Daisy, Violet, Iris, Poppy, and Jasmine. Rose is 19, Lilly is 18, Daisy is 17, Elizabeth is 16, Violet and Iris are 10 (The two are twins), Poppy is 6 and Jasmine is 4.

For 16 years, Elizabeth's parents were too ashamed of her to let her out of the palace. She has only seen the outside from windows. All of her sisters have been outside. They go to parks together and go ride the royal horses. But Elizabeth is not allowed to go with them. "You could get yourself killed!" Her mother told her one night. "You have no magic! They would hate you!"

"Mother, I just want to travel out there! only for a little! I wouldn't go into the village!" Elizabeth said, hoping she could persuade her mother to let her outside.

"No means no young lady! That's final!" And with that, her mother turned around and walked away from the conversation.

That night, Elizabeth couldn't sleep. She peered through her window to look up at the stars. She whispered to herself, "It's so beautiful out. I don't want to be here! I want to be out there, with the sky and nature!" She looked at the lock on her window. "Perhaps it's not locked." She whispered silently. She was the only girl who had a room to herself. "The others won't even notice if I'm gone. Nor will they care." She pushed on the window. It slid open with a loud squeak.

She jumped under the blankets as her door opened. Her mother stood in the door way and looked around the room. She turned around and shut the door, muttering something Elizabeth could not understand.

Elizabeth looked out her window. She slept on the first floor. There was no screen on her window, so she could easily hop through. She shimmied the window open a bit more, then put her shoes and coat on. She was the only sister that did not wear a dress. She was clearly the least favorite of her parents. They gave her all of her older sisters old, tattered clothing. She had no high heals, no dresses, no jewelry and no makeup like her other sisters.

She was ready to leave. She sat on her window sill and slid out of her room. She hit the ground hard and with a loud Thud. There was no doubt that she would come home late tonight. She ran away from the palace as quickly as she could, then hid in a bush when she saw her mother and father outside.

They were there for about 5 minuets before they went back inside. The main light from all the rooms in the palace turned off. Elizabeth heard a high, squeaky whisper. "Hey! What are you doing in my bush!"

She quickly turned around and jumped out of the bush. "I-I'm so sorry!" She said, rubbing the back of her head and ran to the forest. Elizabeth tripped on a large rock. She found herself tumbling down a hill, deeper and deeper into the dark forest. She heard a rustle behind her. Elizabeth spun around, but saw nothing. Behind her, a low growl formed. She slowly turned around to be greeted by a wolf.

This was not an ordinary wolf. It was over all grey, but the tips of its ears, tail, and paws were glowing blue. It had blue, glowing eyes. It was beautiful.

Elizabeth had never seen a wolf. But she heard of them in stories and in books. She knew they were dangerous. She slowly backed up, but tripped on an exposed tree root and fell backwards. The wolf got closer. She put her face in the palm of her hands. She started to cry. "No wonder mother always told me to stay inside.." She said quietly to herself. The wolf stopped.
