Hoseok didn't know what to do. He was standing in the middle of the sidewalk, motionless. In fact, people passing by were giving him weird gazes, but he didn't realize as he was staring at his hands, or to be more precise, at the object in his hands.
His whole day had been a total mess. After he had left school, he went to his regular taekwondo gym and trained with his partner Shownu for two straight hours. Shownu had only started to come to the gym a month ago as he had moved recently to the city, but his skills were already at a high level, enough to get paired up with Hoseok. He wasn't very talkative and sometimes seemed to act more like a bear than a human- behaviour and speech alike-, but Hoseok didn't mind. He got the chance to practice and progress with his techniques, thanks to him. Rare were the people able to take his punches when he was serious. They trained together in silence until Hoseok had to leave for work.
He took his favourite shortcut by the side streets and took a few turns, walking peacefully while carefully avoiding the puddles in his way. The smell of wet asphalt invaded his nostrils, a sign that rain had only stopped falling recently. As he was trying to untangle the thread of his earphones, he met two men, clothed all in black, jogging towards him. They seemed to be looking for something or someone. He found them highly suspicious and when they got to the same level, they exchanged a threatening stare before continuing in their respective ways.
Hoseok tried to ignore the warning signals in his mind and continued walking, scrolling over his playlist.
He suddenly heard a scream coming from his left.
It was a horrible cry yet not extremely loud, holding a mix of pain and despair. Without thinking, he rushed in that direction, took another turn to the left and soon found what he was looking for.
He saw another man in black, crouched over a tall yet slender figure. The victim had a few cuts on his face and blood was running down from the corner of his lips. He seemed to be terribly exhausted and hopeless, his wrists solidly tied with a belt. The attacker was whispering something through his ear, but Hoseok was too far to hear anything.
And, he didn't care.
In his mind, he had already concluded that the aggressor was undoubtedly...a pervert.
As soon as he saw the man, trying to throw a kick in the young man's ribs, he jumped over and lifted the aggressor from behind. The man had an expression of total surprise as he wasn't expecting anyone to attack him. He managed to escape from Hoseok's strong arms by aiming a hit at his left eye with his elbow.
Hoseok growled softly and released his grasp. He understood that his opponent had some experience in fights, but he was confident that he was stronger.
The man charged at him, but he confidently dodged his attacks and replied with a key, blocking and locking the assailant's arm between his two hands. The man tried to resist and replied with punches, but as he was moving, he kept pushing the point of resistance in his arm. Hoseok noticed the attacker screaming in pain after he felt the bone of the man's arm breaking under his grip.
He tried to shush him as he didn't want to bring unwanted attention to where they were -his outfit appeared extremely similar to the other two men he had encountered previously. Soon noticing that the other simply wouldn't shut up, he decided to simply knock him out with a strong punch in the face, coldly leaving him on the ground.
It was then that he realised that the man's victim had not made any move or sound for the past minutes.
He rushed toward the tall guy and gently brushed his cheek, putting a finger under his nose to see if he was breathing. Thankfully, he started moving. He tried to see if the guy had any major injuries and noticed that he was bleeding from behind of his head. As he was about to take a closer look, the young man suddenly opened his eyes and Hoseok could read pure terror within them. He had the look of a cornered beast, filled with animosity and wariness.
