There are times in life where things come to an end.
It was precisely one of these moments that Kihyun was facing right now.
"Fxxk!"
"What is wrong?" The ghost child asked, concerned.
Oh, right. I forgot he was also here with me. I shouldn't be swearing in front of a child.
"I think we are lost. This place is a real maze." Kihyun said as he met another dead end. He had mentally drawn a map of all the ways, alleys and rooms based on the description Changkyun gave him; but as he had feared, it was totally different from now. The underground had changed a lot compared to back then, during the opening of the amusement park in 1989.
He wasn't afraid of being down, almost alone -a ghost cannot really be considered company, right?- in the complete darkness. He got used to being in the dark long ago; surrounded by a darkness that would never fade away.
Who cares if it is dark?
Since his eyes were worthless, he had to see differently.
"Let's go this way." He suggested, pointing at the left passageway.
"How do you know that there is a way there?" The little ghost asked innocently yet genuinely intrigued.
"Because I am a blind person doesn't mean that I can't see. I see without my eyes... Here." He said, moving the child to a specific spot.
He was wearing his gloves in case he would have to capture some ghosts and interrogate/ torture them. Without these gloves, he wouldn't be able to touch them.
And just how are you supposed to catch ghosts and kick their asses if you can't touch them?
Thankfully, he had brought his gloves; and his boots too.
"Do you feel it?" He asked the child.
"Feel what?" The boy ghost was clueless.
"The breeze," Kihyun answered. "I can tell because of the breeze. I feel the air circulating and it guides me so I don't end up kissing a wall."
The little ghost child got all agitated and started jumping excitedly.
"That is amazing!" He exclaimed.
"There is nothing amazing about that...Really. People simply tend to forget how to see, how to really see. They rely too much on their eyes. If they would use their other senses more frequently, perhaps they would be able to notice even a ghost's presence." Kihyun replied with a small wink.
"Then how do you know if there is an obstacle or a hole in your way?"
"Usually, I am always with someone," Kihyun said as he smiled shyly and extended his hand toward the child.
The little ghost took his hand and they started walking. It would have been quite a cute scene if they wouldn't have been in the middle of a perilous mission, underground moreover.
Suddenly, Kihyun heard Shownu's voice through his earpiece.
"I think we found something," Shownu spoke up to all.
Oh. Oh. I smell bad news coming.
"What did you guys find?" Kihyun asked through his mike.
"Ropes. I can confirm they have been used." Shownu replied, serious.
That's weird...Kihyun had made all sorts of scenarios in his head but none of them implied ropes as a mean to retain Hoseok's grandmother. He found it suspicious that Halmeoni would be simply attached by ropes. Although she was an old lady, she still had her frying pan and quite a feisty personality. She would certainly fight back, never allowing herself to surrender. She couldn't be simply attached by ropes. It would have been too careless of her kidnapper.
