chapter five; olivia pov

Surprisingly, the phone call only took another thirty minutes. Reece, George, and I had sat there talking about what we wanted to do for Mia's birthday the entire time, coming up with a plan to take her out for dinner and then go to a bar or something.

Although it probably wasn't worth it considering Sean may already have something planned. He always has something planned.

That's got to be the only thing bad thing about Sean and Mia being together. I rarely get to plan anything for Mia because he always has to take over and do everything that he wants to do.

Blake walked in, a stressed look on his face.

"You alright?"

He nods.

"Blake."

"I have to go back home for a few days."

I sit up. "Is everything okay?"

"My sister is in the hospital."

"What happened to Abbie?" George asks. "Is she okay? Does someone need to go with you?"

"She was in a car accident. Nothing too serious, but I just want to go home and make sure she's okay. I can go alone."

"What do you mean by 'too serious'? Anything involving a car accident is usually serious."

"The doctors want to keep her in for observation. Other than that she should be fine."

"Are you alright?" I ask. Most people are worrying their asses off when a relative is in an accident.

"I already said that I was fine." He snaps.

"Blake-"

"Olivia, don't. I don't want to hear it."

"Fine, I won't say anything."

"Thank you."

"Let's get something to eat." Reece says.

"That's what you suggest?" George asks.

"How about milkshakes? Milkshakes always cheer me up."

"I could go for a milkshake or two." Blake says.

"Milkshakes it is then. Let's go."

We stand up and put our shoes on, quickly heading out to the car and driving towards my favorite diner, which just happens to have the best milkshakes in town. The drive there was extremely awkward, as no one knew what to talk about that would make Blake feel any better.

"So what's new with you guys?" Reece questions as we sit down with our milkshakes.

I shrug. "Not a whole lot besides my best friends trying to set me up with people."

Reece laughs.

"Who are they trying to set you up with?" Blake asks.

"Reece." I smile. "Funny thing is, the only thing I see him as is a friend. I'm not interested and they don't like it."

"Ouch." Reece puts his hand over his heart. "That hurts."

"Oh, please. Don't act like you aren't interested in me either."

He looks down. "I can't..."

My eyes widen and I instantly feel bad.

"Reece, you-"

"Got you!" He laughs loudly, making everyone in the shop stare at us.

"You ass!"

"Your reaction was priceless."
