Aiden's POV

No words were exchanged.

Even the answers we gave to the police were short and precise. They let us go just because the hospital decided not to press charges against us.

The environment was getting more tensed up and stressful with the silence. But soon the silence was broken when a doctor with a hand full of papers approached us

"Mr. Walker."

The elder one got up and stood next to the doctor as we mirrored his actions.

"Bella is stable. She has been diagnosed with a mild traumatic brain injury called concussion. We have already stabilised her cervical spine. Other than the injuries on her forehead and arms, everything is fine but she has a broken rib too- which can take a bit of time to heal."

I felt nauseous , hearing how much pain she might have suffered.

"When she wakes up, there is a possibility that she might not remember the whole event so I suggest that you shouldn't put stress on her to think, because even under medication, she might still feel pain. She will be staying under observation. Other than that- there's nothing major. Is there anything you want to ask?"

"When can we see her?" Ethan Walker stepped forward.

"Soon, a nurse will call you."
Everyone nodded in response.

After the doctor left, silence took over and no one spoke anything, probably still shocked about how and why it all happened. I stood there, as rigid as a statue, with arms folded over my chest.

"Oh my God- I feel so bad for her." the guy, whom I came to know as Mason, said as he sunk back into on of the black seat.

"She has gone through a lot. She's our little sister. Had mum and dad been here- they would have actually killed each one of us. " Ethan mumbled.
"And you, especially." He looked at me briefly.

"Believe me when I say I think about it every single day of my life. It broke me to my core, seeing Bella change. But all of you have to make your own decisions and mistakes. It's all part of growing up. But right now- its her fight and her decision- to be with him."

"What! So you are just going to let him go? After all he has done.. He made Bella lie to us." Ethan asked in disbelief at what his brother was saying.

I just watched and observed everything.

"I never said I'm going to let him go easily- trust me on this. He'll be having a hard time. "And I'm quite sure- it might not be entirely him who made her lie. After all, she lived with us- she is bound to lie by now." he lifted his shoulders lightly.

Everyone sat down, except me. I was just too engrossed in thinking. Something didn't feel right like, something was left for me to say. I imagined Sophie in Bella's place and I instantly understood what the Walker brothers must be going through.

"I- I am sorry." I said.
Everyone looked at me with narrowed eyes.
"I'm sorry- Its my fault that Bella's facing all this- I'm sorry about making her lie to you and I'm sorry about the fight too."

"No." Max muttered.

"No?" I asked in disbelief.

"I don't believe you." Max said.
"How the f**k do I know that it isn't some sick game you're playing with her? Look what you have got her in! I don't trust you and I don't think I ever will."

"What the f**k is wrong with y'all?" I shouted. "I didn't ask for your permission!"

"Calm down!" Jake, the elder one said firmly.

"I won't. Y'all are just putting blame on me and her.. But all this time- it was you that made her a mess of girl she is right now- too confused and scared. On every turn of life, she doesn't make a decision without thinking about what y'all will think. But I'm here for her- to help her realise how much capable she is. So you all hypocrite assh*les better stop assuming that I just want to f**k her."
Standing in the same room and under the same roof as them suffocated me. But I couldn't leave without seeing Bella. So I left the waiting room and walked to reception.

After a few minutes of painful flirting, she finally gave me Bella's room number. Then I quickly sprinted towards the room.

My heart broke as soon as I opened the door and saw Bella hooked to a lot of machines. She looked so weak, so pale with bruises on her face and arms.
I walked next to her and sat on the stool.
I slowly caressed her cheek with my thumb. But she flinched and I quickly moved away.

I sat up straight with a huff and looked at the machines.
But my attention was diverted when I heard her.
"Hey."

"Hey babe- Looking rough." I tried to put on a smile.

"Yeah- feeling a bit like that too."She passed me weak smile. "Are my brothers here or not?" she asked.

I nodded.

"Did you meet them?" she asked with a tensed tone.

"Yeah." I sighed.
"Lovely people, aren't they!"I rolled my eyes.

"I'm sorry." She apologized, with a sad look, probably already knowing it all.

I passed her a warm smile and she passed it back too.But her smile soon faded.
"What happened to your face?" She slowly picked her arm up and moved closer to my face. Her fingers traced my jaw, examining the bruise.
I closed my eyes in relief that she was alright and felt her touch.
Quite abruptly, I held her arm next to my face and kissed it and held it there.
"Bella, I'm so sorry."

"Hey, its alright." She said innocently in her sweet voice.

That was when I heard steps towards the room and a lot of noise.

I didn't wanted to get in a fight with the Walkers with Bella being a spectator.
I looked around and noticed the window. I walked towards the window, knowing that it could probably be the only way out.

"What are you doing?" Bella asked.

"I'll back, princess." I assured her and then jumped off.

.

.

That was probably the first time I lied to her.
