Chapter Sixteen

*Jo's POV*

I stared warily at the make-up utensils on my desk, as if they were weapons of mass destruction. One touch and I could blow up the whole planet. The shocking pink lipstick glared at me. Well, not glared, I don't see how an inanimate object can make expressions but it felt like it. Maybe I'm just going crazy.

"Jo, are you ready yet?" A voice called from the bathroom.

"Urm..." I muttered.

Sarah opened the door, still attaching her hoops into her ears. She stared at me in shock. "You're not even ready yet!" She wailed.

"Cool your jets! I am sort of ready."

"No, you're not! You haven't even put make-up on! Jesus christ."

I pulled a face. "I don't like it. What if I want to rub my eyes? What if my face doesn't match my neck?" I subtly indicated to her more orange-than-usual face.

She ignored my hints. "Oh stop being such a drama queen, come here, I'll do it."  She tottered over in her high heels from the door, so i managed to get a full view of her outfit.

Sarah's blonde hair was piled up to the side of her head, a few strands falling loose, shimmering in the ambience of my night light. (I'm still afraid of the dark ok? Don't judge.) Her make-up was heavy, smokey eyeshadow, deep red lipstick, lashings of mascara, the whole works.

She was wearing a short black shirt that said RAMONES on it, showing her toned belly. I wonder if she's ever actually heard their music. In my opinion, I don't like them, but the shirt design is kind of cool. Bleached blue denim short shorts and blue vans completed her outfit.

"Sar, you do know that we're going to a house party not a club?" I grinned at her. "Not that you don't look nice, probably too nice, actually."

She rolled her eyes. "Thanks, I'll try and make sure your compliments don't go to my head. Now let me put some eyeliner on you. Hold still."

She lunged at me with a sharp black stick, dripping in the dreaded stuff. I had to refrain myself from flinching, closing my eyes and breathing slowly, trying to focus so that she doesn't smudge it.

"Okay, now you're gonna need to open them so I can do the little flick."

I open my eyes to see her concentrating, the tip of her tongue poking out of her mouth. She looked really cute, bless her. After dotting a bit of silver over whatever bit she was doing, and applying a light mascara, my eyes were done. I already felt dirty.

"Sarah my eye's itchy!" I whined.

"Pain is beauty, sister. What about your lips?" I could see her eyeing up the horrible pink one.

"I'll stick to lipgloss, thanks."

"Fine. Hair?"

"I'll just leave it down. Au natural and all that."

She sighed at me. "At least let me curl it properly, maybe add a few small plaits?"

I nodded, knowing i'd never hear the end of it if i refused.

We were finally ready to go. I'd put in my cute pokeball earrings i'd managed to bag at the convention, my blue and white tie dye jumper, black shorts with tights, and my trusty doc martens. They were a bit muddy but the lights in the house probably wont be able to make it show up...that much.
