I'm in the darkness again
With my best friends
Cat and Deb,
Annie and izzy
They are my family.
They never leave me
Even when I'm happy.
Cat catches my tears
On a shining silver blade.
Deb clouds my mind
With demons of my past.
Annie fills me with 'what ifs'
Giving me every scenario.
Izzy opens my eyes
Giving me time with my mind.
They look out for me
In the dark of the night
When alls quiet
And everyone's sleeping.
We stay up plotting
How to stay in bed all the next day
How to get out of that assignment
How to avoid the inevitable question
"Are you okay?"
A new voice chimes in
"Why not end it now? Never worry again. Be free to fly or swim"
There stands a corpse, a girl who looks like me except I know her name and it's not mine.
It's Sue. And she'll look after me.
