Chapter 8:

Joe's POV

I stared at the clock during class, waiting for it to move. I seer it's been in the same spot for hours, though it was only minutes.

"It's not going to move any faster it you glare at it." A voice whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spin. It was Monday, and only 5 minutes into school.

"Well, I at least have to try." I shrugged. Yeah, it didn't work, it only made it go slower. *Sigh*

A deep laugh broke though the silence and everyone turned toward Gage. He quickly tried to cover it up by coughing, but everyone was already giving him weird looks. As I guessed, people have never heard him laugh before. He's just too serious and mean looking for someone to laugh or smile.

"You're one weird girl." He told me. I gave him a look, yeah, I was the weird one. Note my sarcasm.

"At least I know how to laugh and smile." I retorted. He automatically glared at me, any other emotion left his face. There's the Alpha I know!

"How else is my pack the strongest in the U.S?" He growled.

"Well because they're strong and have a lot of pack members." I rolled my eyes.

"You're impossible." He sighed.

"You know you love me." I sang. Er both froze at my words and turned slowly to look at each other. It was a force of habit, I always said that to my friends and brother, so it slipped out.

"You know I do." He smirked. I could feel my wolf jumping with joy, but I blocked her out.

"Never knew, never will." I said and walked out of the classroom against my teacher's protests. I couldn't stand being in a room with him, he just gets on my nerves so much.

"You know you're gonna get detintion." He called from behind me.

"I don't care, stay away from me!" I yelled. He was only making this worse, the more he tries the more I try to reject. We just had to come to this stupid school and I just had to meet my stupid mate.

"Joe." Gage called, suddenly closer then last time. I just ignored hon and walked faster, knowing perfectly well he would follow me anyway. Without thinking, I turned around and hit him square in the jaw, sending him flying to the ground. That felt so good...

He shot up and glared dangers at me, looking like he was about to punch me. I closed my eyes and prepared for the blow, but it never came. I opened one eye to see him giving me a sad look.

"I would never hurt you." He whispered. I had no clue what to say or do, so I just stayed there staring at him with only one eye opened. I sighed and closed my eye again, feeling tired already, and his presence wasn't helping. Suddenly I was greeted by a giant hug, warmth washing over me. I gasped and opened my eyes only seeing a chest in my face. Warm breath hit my neck and my body relaxed against my will. That was probably when I decided to fall asleep, in his arms, standing up, in the middle of school.

Gage's POV

I felt Joe's body go limp in my arms, which was weird. I pulled away slightly to look at her to see she had fallen asleep. Wth? How can she fall asleep? And she's standing up! I sighs and picked her up, carrying her out to my truck. The principle wouldn't say anything since he was in my pack, so there's no chance of getting in trouble.

Anyway, I hopped into the front seat and drove off, not caring about what Joe would do later. I looked over at her to see her curled up in a ball. Aw, she looks so cute when she's sleeping. Crap, I'm going soft because of her! I can't go soft, I'm the Alpha of the strongest pack in the U.S! That's not really good. She just had to come into my life and be so freaking stubborn! I wish my dad didn't leave, then I wouldn't have this much stress. My mom died when I was only 6, but my dad still stayed strong for the pack. How else am I like this? Ever since my mom died, my dad made me become mean and serious. I probably would have been like this anyway because he left two years ago when the wolf who killed mom came into the territory. Ever since then, he's been chasing him, leaving me the Alpha at only 16. That's how I'm 18 and in 11th grade. I had to take a year off to get settled with being Alpha.

By the time I finished thinking, I was already in front of my house. I mentally groaned, a lot of my pack didn't go to school, so there would be a lot of questions. I got out, picked her up, and carried her inside, ignoring all the stares I got. I brought her upstairs to my room and laid her on my bed. Dang, she's a heavy sleeper, though I was being real gentle with her. I sighed and laid down next to her, this time not putting my arms around her. I was almost asleep when my beta, Devon, decided to come into the room. I sleepily got out of bed and walked out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind me.

"What?" I asked grumpily. Is that even a word? Oh well.

"You're dad is on the phone, wanting to talk to you." He replied, not saying anything about the sleeping Joe on my bed. I tensed, I haven't talked to my dad in 2 years, so why would he be calling now?

"Lead the way." I told Devon, wide awake now. He lead me into my office and pointed to the phone laying on the table. I picked it up and listened before I said anything.

"Hello?" I finally said into the phone.

"Ah, the great, almighty Alpha; how have things been?" The voice on the other line questioned. Even though I haven't talked to my dad in two years, I knew it wasn't him.

"Who is this?" I hissed.

"Oh wow, she sure looks beautiful sleeping in your bed. You wouldn't want anything to happen to a pretty face like that, now would we?" He said. I stopped pacing, freezing in mid-step.

"You better not touch her." I growled into the phone. If he was watching Joe right now, I would never make it in time to save her. I started running anyway, still holding the phone against my ear.

"I wouldn't imagine doing such a thing, but my friend right here would." I could almost hear the smirk in his voice. That's when I snapped, my wolf took over while I was running down the stairs. My wolf jumped down the stairs and slammed into a few walls on the way. When I finally reached my room, I broke down the door only to find my room completely empty. No men, no wolves, no Joe.

Joe's POV

I woke up in the wet forest floor when it started raining. I jumped up and looked around, only to see that I was surrounded by wolves. Oh good, I though Gage just left me in the middle of the forest, at least I know he didn't. Now I just have to find out who these wolves are...

As if on cue, a guy walked through the wolves to stand a few yards in front of me.

"Nice to see you're finally awake, Joe." He said.

"Not so nice to see you." I retorted. This guy had some nerves kidnapping me.

"Now, now, that's no way to treat your mate's uncle." He told me. Well, I did not expect that...

"Well you shouldn't kidnap your nephew's mate." I shrugged.

"True, but this is just for revenge, and I'll make it last." He smirked. Something about the way he said that told me I wouldn't like it.

"You're wrong if you think you can use me for revenge." I growled.

"Oh, think again." He grinned and I was once again consumed by darkness.
