Chapter 7:

"Joe! Wait up!" Gage yelled from behind me as I ran away. He might be strong as heck, but he sure was slow. Then again we were in human form, but he still was slow.

"Hurry your slow butt up!" I called over my shoulder. I quickly looked behind me to see him trip over a tree branch, falling face first. I bursted out laughing but climbed up a tree before he got up. I made sure not to move as he came closer, looking around.

"Joe? Where are you?" He called out, concern in his voice. I contained my snicker as I waited for him to get right under me. When he did, he stopped and looked around, giving me time to make it perfect. I jumped from where I was in the tree and landed squarely on top of him. We both fell to the ground, though mine was a softer landing. Though it still did hurt, because he's really hard.

"Ow." I groaned but didn't move. Once we hit the ground and I was laying on his back, it was actually comfortable. I closed my eyes; I could fall asleep like this if we just stay here a few minutes longer...

"Joe, get off of me." Gage said from under me.

"No." I muttered, probably because I just realized how tired I was. I heard him sigh, but didn't make any move to get up.

"We can't stay out here all night." He told me but I was already drifting to sleep.

When I woke up, I was on a soft bed with something warm wrapped around my waist. I sighed and closed my eyes again but froze. I turned around and came face-to-chest with a sleeping Gage. If I was a normal werewolf girl, I probably would just fall asleep again, instead I slapped him. That caused him to wake up and when he saw me, he quickly let go of me.

"You freaking jerk!" I yelled as I got out of bed, my bed!

"You're my mate, what did you think I would do?" He asked. Okay, he got me there.

"Well, certainly not be stupid and sleep in my bed with me!" I said.

"You're my mate, that's what mates are suppose to do!" He told me.

"I'm not mates to an arrogant jerk like you." I growled. Guilt shot through me right after those words left my mouth.

"And I'm not mates to a stubborn brat like you." He replied back and left. My heart silently broke but I ignored it. I hated him the minute I laid eyes on him, and that hate just grew.

"Joe, are you okay? I heard y'all fighting..." Danny came into my room.

"I'm fine, I just need to take my mind off of things." I sighed and collapsed on my bed. He laid down next to me and we stared at the ceiling, both not talking. After about 10 minutes, he turned in his side to look at me, his head resting on his hand.

"Wanna go find a lake?" He asked. I smiled, of course he would suggest that. Before we moved we would go to the lake every night of the weekend. We did that ever since we were little kids, we would go with our dad. Even after he died, we still did it to remember him by.

"Yush!" I yelled and ushered him out of the room so I could change. I quickly put on my black bikini and threw my clothes back on over it. I ran out of my room and ran straight into an already changed Danny. We linked arms together and we skipped down the stairs and towards the door.

"We're going to the lake, mom!" I called as we walked out the door. I heard her okay as the door shut behind us and we hopped into my mustang. I remember the way to that place Gage took me since I ran for my life away from him. Before I left there, I saw a glimpse of a beautiful lake, perfect for swimming in. Within an hour, we finally arrived at the lake and we quickly got out.

"Last one in's a chew toy!" Danny yelled and we both took off running. I took my clothes off while running and jumped into the lake, somehow being the first one there. When I resurfaced, Danny was jumping in, except he was aiming for me! I tried to move out of the way but it was too late. He was already on top of me and we both went other. We got up for air and I glared daggers at him.

"Oops, sorry." He grinned sheepishly at me.

"Jerk." I muttered and splashed him with water.

"Oh, you're on!" He shouted. I smirked and dove under the water just as he splashed water at where I was. I grabbed into his ankle and pulled him under with me. He tried to struggle but I kept a firm grip, pulling him in different directions. I soon ran out of air and I let go of him, resurfacing for a breath.

"That was so not cool, I could of drowned!" He complained.

"If you drowned, I would have drowned." I pointed out, rolling my eyes. How am I related to him?

"Oh." Was the smart thing he said.

"Race you to the other side!" I heller and then swam away. Wow I feel like a fish, though I'm a wolf.. Okay, that's just weird. At least I was winning!

"Cheater!" I heard Danny call from behind me. I just laughed and kept on swimming, making it to the other side in a few minutes.

"Haha, I'm the queen of the world!" I yelled, grinning like a complete fool. Everything that had happened in the past week left my mind, I only thought of then.

Gage's POV

I ran thought the forest, punching trees as I hurried to the meadow. I was in human form, knowing if I shifted my wolf would take over. If only Joe wasn't so freaking stubborn, I wouldn't have to do this. Well I don't have to do this, but I can't go back home and destroy the house, now can I?

I kept on running until I got to the edge of the trees, stopping at the scene before me. My mate and her brother were swimming and playing in the lake. That made me more angry, that should be me down there having fun with Joe! I crossed my arms and watched them, a scowl on my face. My madness slowly faded as I watched her, but my scowl never left. Then again, when did it ever leave? Anyway, I stayed hidden in the trees, knowing Joe would hate me even more if she saw me. Who knows how much she hates me right now, especially with what I said early. I didn't mean it, I just reacted out of anger. She just angers me so much, she's just too stubborn! Well I'm stubborn too, so I guess I anger her too... How the heck are we suppose to be mates? We'll probably kill each other before the mating process even finishes! This should be one hell of a year....
