When Milli finally came to, there was a strikingly tall and lean man all in black bent over her. She stifled a scream and gathered all her fear and stuffed it deep down inside her, even though her insides were violently trembling inside.

‘What on earth is this all about?’ She finally spluttered out. Milli tried to stand up stubbornly, only to find herself tied tightly to a dangerously wobbly chair. She decided it would be safer to go with just sitting stubbornly. Apparently none of this was amusing to the man, as his cold, ice blue eyes pierced her. She fought the urge to shudder.

‘What do you want?!’ she repeated, her courage growing. She lashed out a kick at the man in black, who simply stepped aside.

‘Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.’ He finally said in a voice as cold as his eyes. He looked as if he was containing a slap inside him. Although his face was unreadable, his eyes showed absolute loathing.

‘Why. Am. I. here!’ Milli screamed, probably loud enough to bring down the whole building. The man only sighed.

‘I’m going to get straight to my point.’ He said plainly. ‘You were created. I did a bad thing. Your parents made my life hell. Here I am for my revenge.’

‘Uh, my parents? My mum is a gardener and my dad works in a factory. What have they got to do with this?’ Milli challenged.

‘Not those disgusting creatures. Your real parents.’ The man said.

‘And they’re not?’ Milli questioned, more confused than ever.

‘Well, no, of course not. The earth is your parent. The air, the fire, the water. You are no human.’

~~~~~~~~
Milli thought she had kind of been just a normal 14-year-old girl. Sure, people thought that her silky long raven black hair, pale skin and deep indigo eyes had been slightly abnormal, but she was average height and liked cute celebrities and that was alright, wasn’t it? Okay, so people thought she was weird because she never seemed to get hot or cold, and that when she walked it looked like she was floating on a cloud, but so what? Her life was pretty good, kind of old fashioned, filled with 80’s music and old horror movies and parents that didn’t pry into her business, not that they were really close anyway. People called her a freak, weird, abnormal and some even feared her, so when Milli found that note that lead her into a trap, she had no idea that she was ACTUALLY everything people thought she was . . .
~~~~~~~~~

The man in black cleared his throat and Milli snapped out of her past.

‘What?’ Milli said, slightly dazed. Well, not slightly. Very dazed.

‘Didn’t you listen?’ He snarled. He came right up to her face. ‘I’ve killed out every extinct species you can think of and more. I’ve blown away rainclouds to let crops dry out and people slowly starve to death. I controlled the lava and ash that killed billions of Innocent people. I am billions of years old. I am your enemy. I am the Core.’

His breath smelt of nothing, like an icy wind blowing, chilling Milli to the bones. She was left speechless, and slightly confused. Okay, she thought, is this person just a crazy believer in some made up god or is there some truth behind it?

‘So why am I here?’ Milli asked.

‘I am getting my revenge. When the Earth had had enough, they trapped me down in the hot core where I stayed until everyone I knew and every single one of their relatives had died out.’

‘Oh no, poor you,’ she replied sarcastically. ‘Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll just get going now.’ Milli started to try to squirm her way out of the ropes binding her.

‘Oh no you don’t.’ The man in black pulled out a handgun and aimed it right at her head. Milli froze. The world around her went slow. Her few stray wisps of hair blew in front of her in slow motion. The mans face warped into an evil sneer.

‘When I shoot you,’ he said ‘the Earth goes into mourning for losing its last Child. It will start to wither and rain and the world as you know it will be submerged and extinct. Everyone will die, except for me, the Core, the evil mastermind.’ His finger tugged at the trigger slowly, making the moment too suspenseful to bear.

Okay,  she thought, this is the part where I either wake up from a really bad dream or my Prince Charming comes and rescues me. Nothing happened. Damn, she thought. The last thing she saw was rainbow sparkles and being whisked back . . . somewhere.
