As I walk out of my practice room the bright sun shines right into my eyes from the kitchen window.
I practiced all night because I was to scared of what might happen if I stopped.
After I notice my dad was no where to be seen I went to my couch and sat down with my head in my hands.
I need to know what she Barth was talking about. It can't be my mom, Kate, Kim or any of the girls in the group. They don't deserve anything. I need to call Kim.
I need to tell her to keep her eye out for anyone suspicious. She can't get hurt because of me.
Nobody can.
I got up and went to the kitchen and started searching for his phone. It has to be here somewhere.
He's so careless that it has to be out here. I was just about give up and go see where he is before it caught my eye.
There it was laying in all its glory on the unsteady table. When I turned it on the time said, 8:03.
School started three minutes ago but classes haven't started yet so she should be awake and not buisy. My fingers can't seem to get to the number keypad fast enough before I press the call button.
(Phone Call)
"Hello? Rose is that you?" I hear Kim's kind voice through the speaker.
"Yes it's me but uh— hold on a sec," I whisper and tiptoe/run to outside. "I need to tell you something."
"What!? Is everything ok?! Are you alright?! Please tell me that you're ok!!!!" She frantically yells in the phone.
"Yes I'm fine everything is okay. Don't worry about me alright? But I need you to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious ok. And as soon as you see something-"
"Kim! Is that Rose? Is she ok? Give me the phone right now Kim!!" I hear a voice in the background.
Treys voice.
TREY! OH NO! I promised him that he'd see me today.
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.
"Trey no you can't just take my phone!"
"Give it to me right now!!"
"But Trey!!" Was the last thing I heard Kim say.
"Rose?! Is this you?" Trey asks roughly.
"Y-yes it's me. I'm so sor-"
"Oh thank goodness your alright. I've been worried about you so much you, you promised you'd see me today and ,and I just," he stopped and took a deep breath.
"Trey. I'm ok. It's just I had some problems today. And I wasn't well enough to go to school but I swear I'll see you tomorrow!" I told him quickly so he'd calm down.
"But uh. Are you sure you're alright. It's just I uh I .......... kind of um care about you."
"Oh really?" I ask as a smile grows on my face, "Well I'm fine ok. I'll see you tomorrow."
"But Rose!"
"Trey I'll see you tomorrow. Be safe and don't do anything stupid. Ok?"
"What do you mean by nothing stupid?" He asks in a mocking voice.
"Please? Do it for me. I'll see you tomorrow bye."
(End Phone Call)
"Rose!"
No! No! No! No! No!
I quickly step inside my house only to see my dad right there in front of me.
"Where have you been?" He asks clearly annoyed.
"Just outside for some fresh air. But I practiced all night! And I think I have a great idea for tonight's opponent!! I was also just about to go back in and get some more practice in." I say trying not to crap my pants right there and then.
He simply nods at me and I push past him almost thinking I got away safely.
Almost.
"Why do you have my phone?" He asks and once again has me right up against the wall.
Feeling helpless.
Not an unknown feeling.
"Um well you know Trey? Well I told him that he'd see me today but obviously I'm not going to see him because I've got to train all day so I had to call him so he wouldn't come over and create a problem," I say quickly not once looking into his eyes.
"Good. But never, EVER DO IT AGAIN! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!" He yells and slaps my face making me feel my normal numbness once again.
"Yes father. I understand."
"Good. Now go practice I'll make you some breakfast," he says calmly and walks away like nothing happened.
After that I don't think I could've gotten to my practice room fast enough.
