Chapter 9: Checkmate

Chaeyoung's POV

Dahyun and I decided to go where Tzuyu and Sana is at which is a cafe next to the exit of the mall.

"It seems that Jeongyeon is inside huh?" Dahyun blurted.

"Jeongyeon who?" I asked as we were about to get in.

"Oh nothing. By the way isn't that your friend." She said.

"Who exac-" I was about to ask her when she bumped into someone who I knew.

"Oh Mina-ya." I exclaimed while showing off my dimples regardless that she bumped into someone.

She just looked at me at the eyes and stared at each other for like 15 seconds. I can see that her eyes are kind of swollen and the shirt she's wearing is a bit wet. Not to forget her hair is also messy. 'Did something happen to her?' I wondered. We were like that just until Dahyun snapped her finger in front of us.

"Mianhae D-dahyun." She stuttered a little and she just ran off, while wiping her tears which were like crystals.

"Mina-ya?" I screamed just enough for her to hear, yet not embarrassing myself in front of people. She just look back for a millisecond but enough for me to notice and she just continued on running.

The time has stopped for me since I felt like something bad happened to her so I tried to catch up with her but she was no where to be seen at all. Like she just vanished or something.

Dahyun was behind me all the time and I haven't realized it until she spoke.

"Let's get back. You'll meet her back at the dorm." She said. I agreed with her and got back to the cafe.

As soon as we entered I was about to wave at the two girls but then I heard a slap. Loud enough that even me got hurt by it.

Jeongyeon's POV

I was shocked to find Mina like that at all. She just ran off the cafe without telling me and here I am standing still not knowing anything. I was about to follow her when Sana grabbed my hand and shooked her head. It feels that she knows what happened.

Tzuyu was mostly devastated as she just stared blankly at the table while we were having a conversation.

"What just happened?" I looked at Sana trying to read her expression but she just shrugged her shoulders.

"No. Really... What? You know what happened right?" I gave her a disappointed look so she had no chose but to tell me.

She sighed and started to explain to me every single thing from the start. Or so from the day that Tzuyu had hatred against Mina. She stuttered a lot to be exact since Tzuyu would take a glance at her so she would stop but she didn't because she know it isn't the right thing. When Sana was midway in telling the story, Tzuyu then stood up, kick the table lightly and shuts the door leaving us in the cafe.

I didn't let her though, I quickly grabbed her arm when she was already outside and brought her again inside the cafe. I made her sat down at the chair by force and slapped her hard on her left cheek.

"Never mess with her." I shouted. She just stood up while caressing the part that I slapped and acted as if there was no pain at all. She then left again and this time I didn't bother to follow her.

"Sorry. I shouldn't have bothered." I started to feeling guilty because of what I did.

"No it's fine really. Tzuyu just have a lot of temper within her. haha." She sounded sarcastic saying it. She then patted my back, waved goodbye and left.

Now it's only me in the cafe with other strangers. I decided to text Mina to ask where she is.

"Jeongyeon-ah, did you just-?" Dahyun didn't finish her sentence but I knew what she was talking about because she pointed at me like I was a criminal or something. I looked at her carefully and noticed that she was with someone. It was Son Chaeyoung. 'Huh? You're the one who stole her heart, right?' I thought.
