It's been a week since Elizabeth got here and she's still the center of attention. Yes, she is very confident and yes, she's pretty and yes, she's super smart but as Tessa reminds us every year at our dances: "You don't walk into popularity - you earn it". But Elizabeth walked straight into it.
Since it's Saturday, i should take Coco for a walk. As if on cue, Coco jumps up onto the couch and into my arms.
"You're such a good dog Coco". I laugh as he licks my face. I attach his leash and leave the house. The park is a 5 minute walk from my house. It's Coco's favorite place to go because it's a very popular park so he gets to run around with all of the other dogs.
I let him off of his leash and he takes off sprinting in the direction of the trees. I watch as the black labrador runs in circles, in behind the trees, and out again.
Suddenly, a jack russell puppy sprints past the gate entrance of the park and out onto the street. I hear a yell from quite a far distance saying "No! Come back!"
I look to see if I could put a face to the voice but no one is within sight that seems distressed. I look back at the dog that is about to run onto the street and I jump off of the bench and quickly pass the gate. The dog glides down the street and I chase it.
The dog gets distracted by a blowing leaf but quickly recovers and continues. Thankfully, that distraction is all Inneed to catch up to the dog and grab it in my arms.
The dog intently wags it's tail, probably thinking we are playing a game of tag. I grin at the puppy and check for its name on the collar.
"Why hello Ivy". I laugh as the dog licks my face in response to its name."Oh my goodness, thank you so much" I hear from behind me. I turn around to see Elizabeth, looking relieved. Ivy is her dog?
"No problem". I stutter.I know I make it sound like i don't care about the populars and everyone who is scared of them are pathetic.
But now that i'm face to face with one, I am a little intimidated. She smiles at me and takes the dog from my arms. Right then, Coco jumps up my leg, He must have followed me out here.
"Who's this?" Elizabeth asks, crouching to stroke my dog. He wags his tail at her affection.
"This is my dog, Coco". I stammer.
"He's very sweet". She giggles as Coco licks her face. She stands back up."Hey, do we go to the same school?" She asks. I look back up at her, slightly confused. The popular people aren't meant to care about the nerds or socially awkwards. After a silence, I nod my head.
"I remember you from history class yesterday," She says with a smile, "Talking to that girl, the one my friend Tessa was a bit harsh with".
I look at her stunned. She's popular, but doesn't agree with Tessa's behaviour."I'm sorry, what's your name again?" She asks me, not a bit embarrassed for asking.
"I'm Scott". I tell her and she smiles.
"I'm Lizzy—"
"Elizabeth to you". A new voice says coldly.I turn around in the direction of the voice and am met with the bored eyes of Tessa. She moves around me to stand next to Elizabeth. Of course they came together.
"Oh, hey Tess" she says half heartedly.
"Liz, we should be going now." Tessa replies, glaring straight at me. She then turns and starts to walk away in the opposite direction.Elizabeth goes to follow her. She quickly turns back to me and calls over her shoulder, "Thanks for catching Ivy. Maybe i'll see you in school". She then runs to catch up with Tessa.
"Yeah...maybe".this story is 100% going to continue.
