The Butterfly

Washington D.C.

    The Griffin family decided to go on vacation in the Country's capital, Washington D.C. This was Paul's first time out of California and the family was very excited. They had lots of fun activities planned, maybe even visiting a zoo.

   The plane landed, and the family sighed with greatfulness after the four hours of sitting. Paul had behaved well, but there was one 30 minute stretch he was a little upset.

   They climbed out of the plane and were happy to put their legs into motion again. Once they had gotten a little something to eat, they left the airport and got into a taxi and gave the driver the address of the hotel they would stay in for the week. They arrived at the 4 star hotel and all immediately laid in bed and closed their eyes.

    At 6:30, two hours later, Anne woke up and noticed that she wasn't the only one that got some shut-eye. She walked over to the crib where her baby brother was sleeping and looked down. She saw him and a grin spread across her face. Anne stood looking over him for 5 minutes and then pulled up a chair to sit with him.

   After ten more minutes or so, she didnt know the time because she hadn't looked anywhere other than the human being below her, Paul's eyes came open. Anne hoped that he wouldn't start crying, and was satisfied when he lay there without a sound. Then Paul realized he wasn't alone and smiled with his sister when their eyes interlocked.

    Out of her peripheral vision, Anne saw his mouth open and then heard something. She heard Paul's voice and the word that came out made her feel the greatest feeling in the world, 100x better than happiness. And the reason she felt this was because for the first time Paul said "Anne".
