His dark blue eyes steadily lock eyes with the light brown ones in front of him, he tries not to think of his past.
"You're human, aren't you?" Scott's voice makes it sound like anything but a question, almost as if he's stating a true fact. John seems to get nervous, looking away from Scott. "I find it intriguing that you have a team of demons who work for you." The demon muses, holding back a smile as he realizes how easily he had regained control of the situation.
"I just have a friend who wants to get some revenge on someone, okay? Stop interrogating me." John speaks up, his voice harsh that it startles the boy beside him, Fitz's eyes go wide.
"Then get that faraway look out of your eyes and tell me what you want me to do, I'm not paid to have this consultation." Scott rolls his eyes, sipping at his drink once again and leaning back in his chair. He bites down on his tongue to prevent a snappy remark about humans from slipping out. "Why are you the one hiring me if it's for a friend?"
"He doesn't have my same connections." John replies simply, looking towards Fitz as if he were expecting something. The boy shook his head as he remembered what they were doing, reaching into the inside pocket of his jacket and pulling out a stack of folded papers.
Scott knee his eyes narrowed the second he saw the face of his target staring up at him. Such a happy, undeserving smile spread across his features. He held in a noise of disgust, trying to act like he had never seen the boy before.
If only it was that easy to forget Jonathan Dennis.
"He looks like a kid, what did he do?" Scott could write a book about the things Jonathan had done. How he was a liar, a manipulator, a cheater, good for no-
"Well, my friend Luke used to date him back in high school, I think that lasted a little over a year, after his ex was out of the picture or something, I don't know I never pay attention to half the shit he says." Scott gripped his drink more tightly, thinking of Evan, his smiling face. The way John talked about him as if he was nothing, but he brushes it aside. Bounty hunters don't let their feelings get in the way of things like this, so he couldn't react. "I think that they started things back up again a few years ago but this time he was a total dick and like cheated on him and was still not over his high school ex-" The demon's blood boiled at the thought of Jonathan still being in love with Evan. His Evan.
"I didn't ask for a life-story." Scott can't help the growl that slips out with his words. "But, this sounds like some petty teenage drama, can't they work it out by themselves? Why does he need to die?" Scott didn't need a reason, or a paycheck for that matter, he just needed John to ask him to kill him one more time. He wanted to savor the moment.
"Because Luke, well, Luke is just a psychopath basically, so he takes revenge a bit too far. Besides, I think he feels bad for the guy Jonathan cheated on for him, it was pretty cruel. I think he died a year or two ago? I'm not sure, but Luke just wants to make things right in his own twisted way, I suppose." Again, the demon's inside twist at the thought of going through with this job, something about it wasn't real enough for him, but he didn't let that show.
Personally, Scott saw no fault in what this 'Luke' character had asked his friend to help him with, considering he had certainly done a lot of harm to apparently a multitude of people. Including a hybrid, a manifestation of an angel and a demon. What was it about this boy that could break both Heaven and Hell? Scott didn't care, as long as he was getting money to see his blood spilled all over the ground.
An image of Craig doubled over in pain appears in his head, he brushed it away. The Guardian would understand once it was all over, anyway.
"So, you want me to make him suffer, is what you're saying? You don't want his death to be swift and merciful?" Although there was a monotone in his voice and a bored gaze in his eyes, his thoughts ran around his mind in excitement. Scott hopes that John would say yes.
"Whatever makes you happy, I don't really know what kind of morals people with your job have so, if you want to make it swift, you can. But, I suppose Luke would rather he suffer just a bit." Scott feels a smirk crawl onto his lips, a red glint in his eyes that was barely even noticeable.
"I do whatever the client desires of me, John, even if it includes mutilation or arson. Morals aren't something I often use." He takes another sip at his straw, knowing his drink was nearing it's end.
John quirks his eyebrows, a small remnant of a smile appearing on his lips, his eyes locking onto Scott, who tugged his leather jacket closer to him. "Mutilation? But, wouldn't all that blood ruin your pretty face?" Scott rolled his eyes, unamused and uninterested. "And I wouldn't want you to burn that body of yours, it's actually quite nice." Scott was still unamused, yet not growing annoyed as he knew sometimes he was bound to get hit on. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees a look of jealously on Fitz's face. Scott recognizes the look instantly, as it had been a face Jonathan often wore around him and Evan.
"You think I'm an idiot? Why would I get burned if I'm a professional? The best in the business, matter of fact." He snaps back at the boy, sending another message that he isn't interested in the game he's playing. He thinks to himself before speaking once more. "I'll take your job, as long as you're willing to pay for what it's worth. I told you, kid, I'm not easily flattered." His eyes narrow once more, scaring John into nodding at his words. There was a certain air about the human, Scott realized, almost as if he didn't really know all the things that a demon could do to a person. The boy was cocky to a fault, but eventually learned that there was only so far he could go until the demon bared it's teeth.
Satisfied with the human's answer, Scott stood up, giving a brief nod before grabbing a hold of his drink and walking out. He slipped on his sunglasses once again, making his way to the car he now owned. The Porsche waited for him in the parking lot, looking just like it had the minute he had stolen it. As he unlocked it, the sight of it made him smile, gliding into the seat and inserting the key. He closed the door as the engine began to purr, pleasing the demon as he tried to think of his next destination.
He had a new job, his grip on the steering wheel tightening as he realized he had to go back to Earth. His wings shifting uncomfortably underneath his jacket. The demon knew he couldn't go running back to his roommate, who would tell him to reject the job, that he would never move on if he took it.
Never in his life as a bounty hunter had he rejected a job, he was not going to start now. No one in hell could know about him, the real him, who was hell bent on bringing his boyfriend back from the grave, who was so destroyed by grief that he killed others for money because it filled the void he now had in the middle of his chest. The him that used to be human who did human things with his human roommate, they couldn't know.
So, he would go on, business as usual, while getting revenge at the same time.
He could already taste the satisfaction.
