Chapter 26 - The Airport

Dylan’s POV

I slept soundly that night and was awoken by someone knocking on the door “Raven it’s your mam are you up yet it’s 11am” I looked quickly at the alarm clock fuck we hadn’t set it too busy doing other things I shook Raven “uuummm” was all I got so I kissed her cheek “uuuummm what?' “we need to get up hon it’s 11am and your Mam’s at the door” she sat up looked at the alarm clock rolled her eyes grunted and just said 'fuck” and with that she was up walking around her bed and opening the door 'hi mam well I am up now thanks forgot the alarm so will be ready in five ok” “yeah as long as we are on the road in 45 minutes ok” “we will be promise” and with that she walked back in and I heard Mary walking down the stairs.

Raven sat back down on the bed and said 'fuck I am still exhausted” then she looked at me and smiled “thanks by the way you know how to destress me but now you have to go in the shower we have half an hour to get ready” I couldn’t help myself I leaned forward wrapped my arms around her and nuzzled in her neck “I love you sweetheart next time I will definitely finish off ok” Raven just laughed “well you better” was all she said then she prodded me in the chest and said 'but for now please go and get ready” and I did.

I was quick in the shower and ready in 15 mins and I waited for her downstairs.  George was ready and pacing the lounge floor “you have everything right?” “yes sir tickets, passports, money and esta plus clothes a lot of clothes” we both laughed “ok well I guess your ready then but do me a favour and look after her and these two” “I will Sir promise” and then I heard a thump and a “fuck me oooowww” “Raven you ok” we both yelled up “yeah just stubbed my toe Dylan can you come here please” “yeah sure” with that I smiled at George and went upstairs.

Raven was sitting on the bed rubbing her foot nearly crying but smiling when he looked at her “it hurt” was all she whined at him and then pulled on her shoes “can you start carrying the bags down please I will be down in 2 seconds” “yeah no problem” and I kissed her forehead and went back downstairs with my suitcase, backpack with pillow and her suitcase.  I am a seasoned traveler but hell her case is so heavy but hey she’s packed for two trips but Jesus that suitcase is heavy.  I got to the bottom of the stairs and George met me “do you want to face what press are still out there now and put them in the boot” shit I forgot about the press “yeah less to do later” was all I said and with that me and George went out.  There was 1 or 2 photographers who got photos of the me and George laughing and struggling with the suitcases and I waved to them as we walked back in the house.

I then sat in the lounge waiting for Raven but she was silent very silent so I went back upstairs and knocked on the door something told me not to go in 'yeah I am coming 2 minutes” but her voice broke half way through so I opened the door and walked in.  She was in the process of wiping her eyes and she just looked up and realized it was me through the silent tears “Raven what’s the matter? Please tell me I am worried” “I am upset because I am leaving for so long I have never left for so long before and I don’t know I am just emotional that’s all” I sat down next to her and put my hand over hers that was lying on her leg and said “its fine I kind of understand.  Do you want to cancel and stay here are we could go to Germany and then you come back here and I go on to LA?” “no no no I want to go with you but I am also upset about leaving that’s all” and with that I wrapped my arms around her and held her close saying nothing after about 5 minutes she pulled away and said “I am fine come on we have to go Grit is picking us up from the airport at the other end so we can’t miss that plane” “,ok well if your sure?” “yeah I am sure I loved you as Stuart and I love you now” and with that she kissed me grabbed her small pull on case and left the room with me hot on her tail.

George drove us to the airport it didn’t take as long as we thought and when we went in I checked and our flight to Restock-laage airport was on time so we went straight to the check in and did our suitcases and then went through departures a lot of people were looking at us bit I could tell they didn’t know if it was me or not so they just kept looking.  I took hold of Ravens hand and we walked hand in hand as far as we could.

Once we were through departures we went and sat In the nearest bar I had a pint of lager and she had a glass of prosecco and we sat and chilled in the corner “so when we get to Germany do you have any idea of where we are going or what we are doing?” “all I know is Grit was supposed to pick us up  but I have just checked my phone and there’s a message saying she can’t and apparently we need to get a taxi to a music store called Cadillac in her town” “oh ok is she ok?” “yeah fine apparently it’s a surprise she’s been planning I have no idea” she answered, shrugged and laughed and we just gradually chilled with our drinks and just talked about normal stuff like life, the dogs, Grit and work “ok so I have a Confession ok it’s fine don’t worry but I don’t have a job now I am on the look out ect and I have money behind me I have savings and money my dad left me but yes as of a couple of days ago I am now on the job hunt” Raven said “oh my God.  Ok what happened? And where was I how did I not know this” “it was when I rang them in Whitby they said no more time off for me and they wanted me back I said I couldn’t I wasn’t ready and they said they would have to fill my spot on the team so I said ok see you in court and that was it.  To answer your question you were in the bathroom and I didn’t want to spoil our mojo and like I said it’s fine I have savings and don’t want you to think I want money I am not like that” “no that’s not why I am so upset and angry it’s because you didn’t tell me I would have helped you or told you what to say and would have made you ring them back” at that she just laughed and said “your so sweet but it’s over now honey and it means I can now look for a job over the pond as well if I choose to but one step at a time ok” “ok anyway I better go check on the screen to see if our flight is up yet ok” I said and then I kissed her and left to check. 

She didn’t know I was watching her all the time I was standing checking on the flight then I realized it flashed up departure gate 10 so I slowly walked back, she was looking at something on her phone and was smiling she was so engrossed she didn’t even notice I was back and sitting down till I spoke “ok then gate 10” “fuck Dylan you just gave me a heart attack” I just laughed “not yet hon maybe later” “what??” was the reply I just smiled cheekily and said “nothing come on we need to head to gate 10” “oh ok I am coming” and with that she got up grabbed her bag and little carry on case and started to walk “hey you forgetting something “ she looked around “no I don’t think so” “ok what about me” “oh sorry” she said laughing and waited for him and he caught up and swung his arm around her shoulder and they walked to the gate like two lover’s without a care in the world. 

The gate was small, cramped and packed but we were one of the first people there and found two chairs near the front “so what was so good on your phone by the way” “oh here I will show you” and with that she showed me a video that had been posted by her friend Saresha it was a stydia video but very well done.  I was watching that and replying to her "she is very talented” “yes she is I agree you should show this to some of my friends you will be meeting they will love it” “oh ok I will” then they started to board us luckily I had bought tickets at the front of the plane so we were on quite quickly but had to wait for everyone else it was a full flight and then we were off to meet Grit.
