"Morning, Youngjae!"

He looked up to his coworker, Chanyeol, who had been unusually chipper, especially this early.  His partner was a pretty happy and upbeat guy, but this was more than normal.

"What's up with you, hyung?"  Youngjae asked with one eyebrow raised.  The only response elicited was a manila folder plopped right onto his desk.  Youngjae squinted his eyes at his partner and opened up the folder, seeing details about a gang.

"....Matoki?"  He questioned.  Youngjae knew of the gang and some of their activities, but hadn't actively read up on them.

"Yup! We've got a case. We gotta speak to the captain, let's go!"

"So, I know that you two haven't been assigned to a case of this scale, but I see great potential in the both of you.  Chanyeol, you've been with us for 5 years and have closed an astounding number of cases.  Youngjae, you've only started a year ago, but you were great in the last sting operation we did and caught a drug-trafficking ring we've been after for years."  Their captain, Son Hyunwoo, said praising both of the detectives.

"Thanks, Cap." They both bowed their heads to show their gratitude.

"Now I have to warn you... this may be a long operation. Maybe six months to a year. We still don't have a lot of info on them, not even how the members look, but we got a small break in the case."  Hyunwoo pointed out, showing them the dead body of a man, limbs bounded by rope with a bunny spray painted on the ground between his feet.

"Who is this?" Youngjae asked while examining the symbol left in front of him.

"Nakamoto Yuta, most likely part of a rival gang. But we don't know which one... What's unique about this though is that Matoki doesn't have many rivals.  Most are either allies or neutral, so he must've done something to set them off.  Matoki has only left that symbol at their heists, never killings. They might be unwinding, and we may have a new gang on our hands. This could be a connection to the 'cherry killings' that started up." Youngjae furrowed his eyebrows and tried recalling all of the gangs that he had heard about but he unfortunately didn't know many.

"What can we do then, Cap?"

"One of you has to go undercover. Get to know everyone, figure out where they frequent, anything. They're bound to slip up.  Maybe even gather some information on other gangs, we may be able to use it in the future. The other will oversee the operation. Of course I'll be here to help, but I'll be needed on other cases too. Now knowing all of this, can you do it? Do you need time to think it over?"  Hyunwoo inquired, not pushing them for a quick answer so they have the chance to take in everything that's been said.  Youngjae and Chanyeol looked at eachother for a second to see any signs of objection but there were none.

"We'll do it."

"So what's the first order of business?" Chanyeol asked, skipping behind Youngjae.

"I suppose we should figure out who assumes which role?"  He replied, almost bumping into Chanyeol when he turned to face him.

"I'm fine with any position." Chanyeol stated, leaving the decision up to Youngjae.  He thought about it, and the answer seemed clear.  Chanyeol had far more field experience, weapons training, and combat skills. Youngjae was better off working behind the scenes.

"Have fun undercover, hyung!" Youngjae said, giving the other a thumbs up.  Chanyeol smiled and ruffled the younger's hair up.

"We should go meet with Baekhyun, the one currently undercover in Exodus. Says he's got some info for us." Chanyeol suggests, trying to ignore Youngjae's knowing smirk at the sound of his name. His ears turned red, a common occurrence whenever Baekhyun was involved.

"Shut up."

"I don't have much time guys, they expected me to come back a half hour ago. But I heard from the others that there's a new gang in town, fucking up the alliances put in place." Baekhyun said discreetly from a separate table from the two detectives. The coffee shop that they decided to meet up at was busy and the other patrons paid the men no mind.

"Any clue of the name? Members?" Youngjae asked, looking towards Chanyeol to make it seem as if it was just the two of them engaging in conversation.

"Not at all. The only thing I heard was that the gang is trying to make everyone turn on eachother. And they're creating some kinda weapon to take out the one neutral club that gangs have in Seoul. Calling it 'cherry bomb' or something like that. The security was upped there, but still, no one knows who these guys are." Baekhyun stopped talking when the waitress came to take Chanyeol and Youngjae's order, both getting a simple caramel macchiato.  They smiled politely at her as she left and went back into their discussion.

"We're gonna be doing an operation on the Matoki gang. Any idea how we can make our way inside?" Chanyeol muttered, just loud enough so Baek could hear it.

"There's word going around that the new gang killed their computer expert. One of the members, Daehyun or something, is asking around for someone like that." Baekhyun answered, sipping a bit on his giant cup of espresso.

"I see..." Youngjae whispered to himself.

Baekhyun finished up his espresso and reached in his wallet for a $5 bill and placed it on the table.  "I really need to leave now... and Chanyeol?"

"Yes?"

"....You look good." Baekhyun said casually and left in a hurry. A blush made its way to Chanyeol's cheeks and Youngjae wanted to make fun of him, but he decided to just let him be. Yeol snapped out of it and looked up at his partner.

"So Youngjae... Matoki's looking for a tech geek. You know how hopeless I am with computers... I can't do this. You on the other hand, were a hacker before the department convinced you to use your skills for good." Chanyeol persuaded, bringing up points that Youngjae agreed with. They needed a way in, and this was perfect. Though Chanyeol may have been a more experienced detective than him, there was no way that he could bullshit an expertise in computers.

"Alright... looks like I'm doing this."
