"You can't save them all, Yongguk..." The voice whispered to him. He looked around for the source of the voice but was enveloped in darkness. Yongguk tried to stand up, but felt chains holding his wrists back.
"What the hell.." He grunted and kept tugging at the chains.
"Yongguk, help me."
He looked up and Jinki appeared in front of him, blood oozing from his chest.
"Jinki?" He whispered. Yongguk tried to grab him, but he was far out of his reach. Suddenly, he heard a gunshot ring through his ears and Jinki fell forward.
"No!"
Yongguk sprang up from his bed with sweat dripping down his body. He looked to his clock and it was 10:46, far after when his alarm was set. He grabbed his phone and realized he had forgotten to put it on the charger last night.
The dream happened every night ever since Jinki died. Yongguk was awoken every morning (or in the middle of the night even) by the sight of his former gang member dying. He desperately wanted to be able to sleep peacefully again, but that event plagued his dreams.
He put his device back on the charger and dragged himself out of bed. They usually have group meetings at 10:00 to discuss gang affairs, but he guessed that the others were probably just waiting for their leader to get there.
Yongguk freshened up and threw on a simple blue collared shirt and some slacks, not caring to put on a tie since there was nowhere he had to be today. He opened the door and was met with Himchan who had looked like he was about to knock.
"Hey Yongguk, I was about to check on you. You alright?" Himchan asked with concern. Yongguk put on his best fake smile, not wanting to talk about what he was going through.
"I'm fine." He reassured his friend. The other man looked like he wasn't buying it, but didn't push it since he knew that forcing Yongguk to open up did nothing.
"Alright then. Well, we're all waiting for you at the table." Himchan said, walking with Yongguk to the kitchen, not too far from his room. Everyone was seated and all heads turned towards Yongguk. He greeted everyone and went to the seat saved for him at the head of the table.
"Hi everyone, sorry this meeting is a bit late. My alarm didn't go off." Yongguk explained, hoping that no one would push.
"Hyung, are you alright? You seem to be waking up later than usual." Junhong asked, caring for their leader deeply since he was like an older brother to him.
"I'm okay, thanks Junhong." Yongguk brushed off his concern and shifted the focus to the rest of the gang. "Anyways, how is everyone doing in their departments?"
"We're fully stocked on handguns, everyone will be able to have at least one each. Not too good on our machine guns, we've only got five AK's and a few Uzis. And like, two shotguns." Jongup relayed to the leader, who nodded.
"We can make arrangements to meet with our dealer. Everyone else?"
"The garage is doing good, our income hasn't really changed since everything and it's even been increasing a bit. We've made a few repeat customers." Himchan reported.
"We've lost a shit ton of business with our parts sales though." Junhong said with dismay.
"I'm aware, Junhong. It's okay, just keep looking for parts we can sell, but be careful." Yongguk advised. Junhong nodded obediently and the leader's eyes looked to Daehyun next.
"There's been a lot of chatter from other groups about the new gang. You probably know that the gang's been messing with all the Seoul-based groups, but no one seems to know who's doing it. It's as if they're working in the shadows." Daehyun relayed, which made Yongguk's face harden.
