Ayden
Did she ever think about me?
What's she doing now?
How's her business going?
So many questions ran through my head as I sat at the table across from the beautiful Veronica with the mother of my children and fiancee beside me. Six years later and this woman was just as gorgeous as the day I met her that night in the club with Khalil.
My mind had been wondering about what to say and in that time of thinking my fiance had done most of the talking. Before I knew we all stood to shake hands and that's when I noticed her left hand, there it was a ring.
"It was wonderful meeting you again Veronica this venue is breathtaking we will definitely be back with our deposit." Julie spoke excitedly.
"Of course don't forget my card it was nice meeting you two." Veronica smiled handing Julie a business card.
I had so many conflicting feelings on her not being surprised to see me I mean I wasn't exactly expecting hug and kisses, but she gave no reaction at all no frown displeasure nothing. She seemed so at peace and geuniely happy.
Since Julie had received a call she walked ahead of Veronica and I which gave us a chance to talk if Veronica would allow it.
"Sooo how's life?" I asked hesitantly.
"Life's great I bought this place a couple years back and have been renting it out for events. Not to mention my wedding planning is still in high demand."
"Still planning dream weddings huh?"
"Yes, of course I see that's what your fiancee wants question is are you going to make it happen?" She asked glancing up at me as we got closer to the front doors.
"Yes, Julie is good for me it was a hard decision to move on after Madison left me."
"What do you mean?"
"Madison and I tried to work things out, but I just I just couldn't-
"Sorry about that it was the kids." Julie said cutting off Ayden sentence.
"Kids?" Veronica questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, twin girls actually they're one." Julie explained happily before flashing a picture of the twins.
"They're gorgeous I have two of my own actually, thirteen-year-old girl and three-year-old little boy." Veronica explained
I was in awe as she showed her family picture, Monica had gotten so big and from the looks of it she had married the guy T I think his name was and they looked so happy.
"Oh my gosh I could just eat the little one up." Julie giggled
"Yeah he's a handful he actually just turned three last week." Veronica explained further as she began to show pictures of his birthday party.
That's when I noticed Khalil in one of the pictures and thought how he hadn't mentioned any of this the last time we had spoken I was definitely going to have to make a visit to punch him.
As I listened to the two of them go on and on about kids I felt my phone vibrate.
"Speaking of the devil I was going to call you when I got in the car." I joked walking away from Veronica and Julie so that they wouldn't hear me rant to Khalil.
"I was calling to see if you had made it yet, your godson's eager to see you."Khalil replied clueless of the scolding I was about to give him.
"Yeah you know just hear catching up on old times with Veronica and Julie exchanging, baby pictures."
"Wait what ? How in the hell did that happen?" Khalil burst into laughter.
"Man how in the hell you didn't tell me she was married now with another kid." I fussed
"Dawg I honestly didn't think you would give a fuck plus you were going through that whole depression thing when it happen so..
"Ayden!" Julie shouted waving me over to her and Veronica.
"I'll call you back." I said frustratingly as I ended the call and walked hastly back over to Julie.
"Ayden why didn't you tell me you knew Veronica." Julie smiled.
"Ohhh well-" I asked trying to figure out an excuse of why I hadn't told her.
"He probably didn't recognize me it was actually years ago and I've put on alot of weight since then." Veronica helped me out as she continued going through pictures of Khalil and Tiffany's wedding.
"Are you kidding me you look incredible." Julie complimented.
"Well thank you I actually have a wedding rehearsal I should be getting to so if you want to I can let you take this book to let you see what else you like and just to help you spark some other ideas." Veronica spoke softly checking her watch.
"Wow thank you so much Veronica you're an angel." Julie said grabbing the book and hugging Veronica tightly.
"I can't believe you didn't tell me you knew her she is one of the most in demand rising stars of wedding planning A. I wish I would've known she planned Khalil's wedding you think I could talk to his wife about her."
"Her name's Trinity and I'm sure he wouldn't mind actually Trinity and Veronica are close friends at least I know they were when she planned the wedding." I explained so Julie wouldn't think me not telling meant I was hiding something.
"When did you plan on telling me you were this connected A?" Julie fussed hitting me in the arm.
"When I moved to Arizona it was for good reason." I responded.
"I'm sorry babe to bring up any bad memories it's just sometimes you seem like you miss Texas and now I can see why." Julie spoke with sad eyes.
The rest of the ride was pretty quiet as we admired the sight of downtown from the highway and headed to Khalil's.
Once arriving at Khalil's subdivision Julie broke the silence and complimented the neighborhood. As she spoke of the beautiful homes all my mind could think of was Veronica and how she was finally happy, but part of me wished I was the reason for her new profound happiness.
