Third Person

"...And with all that being said welcome to thirty beautiful." Terrance spoke before finally taking a sip of his red wine with everyone following suit.

Veronica was still in awwe as she glanced around the room at all her loved ones. She still couldn't believe they had thrown her a surprise party for her 30th birthday. So much had changed in the past six years and she was so happy with her self-growth because it allowed her to help others.

As Veronica continued reflecting of her change she thought about four years ago when her and Terrance finally tied the knot and then three years ago when she gave birth to her second child. Veronica and her bestfriend, Trinity had managed to live out their dream of being pregnant together and boy were those nine months full of hell, but worth it when they both gave birth to baby boys a week apart.

Veronica had even expanded her wedding planner business making bride to be's wedding dreams come true just as her slogan had stated.

All that in the past six years now here she was trying not to break down in tears as people went around the table telling their favorite memory with her.

It was after everyone had went around the table Terrance stood up again.

"Now if you know Veronica and I, you know this is one of her favorite songs so baby this one's for you and as long as there's breathe in my body I will sing this for you because I love you infinity..."

"Times infinity baby." Veronica replied in a soft spoken voice.

She was nervous because even though she knew the song he was about to sing everytime she still gets butterflies in her stomach.

Terrance cleared his throat as the waiter turned on the music.

"The truth about a roni, she's a sweet little girl

You can treat her right, feel nice, and hold her tight

Only tenderonies can give a special love

A special kind of love that makes ya feel good inside

If you believe in love and all that it can do for you

Give it a chance, girl, you'll find romance

And if you find a tenderoni that is right for you

Make it official, give her your love

My heart belongs to my roni (she's my only love)

She's my only love..."

Veronica sat and listened as T stood there pouring his heart into the song while she sipped on her wine holding back tears.

Not long after he finished the song the wait staff brought out her cake and everyone at the table and soon in the restaurant joined in on singing happy birthday to Veronica.

Everyone jokingly told her to make a wish, but as she had already been thinking and reflecting she had nothing to wish for because God had blessed her with everything she needed even things she didn't deserve like her family and friends who had managed to never leave her side.

After what seemed like an hour Veronica slowly leaned forward to the cake in front of her with her eyes closed and blew out all thirty candles followed by a round of applause everyone around the table.

"I just want to thank everyone again for coming out this evening to celebrate with me and making this night one I will never forget." Veronica spoke as everyone provided her with their full attention.

"We love you too mama!" Monica yelled across the table causing everyone to burst into laughter.

Veronica could only smile as she looked down the table at her beautiful pre-teen daughter holding her baby brother. Monica was thirteen years old now and resembled Veronica more and more everyday from looks to attitude.

After a few more laughs everyone began to leave hugging and kissing Veronica on their way out until it was only her brothers, Tanya, Trinity, Khalil, Terrance, Ken and his new friend Charlie Veronica introduced him to a year ago while planning a wedding.

"Okay the kids are with the old folks let the grown folks' party begin!" Trinity shouted as everyone made their way to the front doors of the restaurant to leave.

On their way out Veronica had the sudden urge to use the restroom probably from all the wine. As she walked back inside and headed for the restroom she bumped into the last person she thought she'd ever see.

"My apologi- Roni?"

"In the living flesh." Veronica

"I-I-I can't believe this I honestly thought I'd never see you again man. Can I get a hug?"

"No sir." Veronica joked flashing her left hand.

"Whaaattt! I guess that corny guy T finally popped the question."

"Hey that's my husband you're speaking on and actually I asked him."

"Well my apologies again so where is the lucky guy?"

"He's upfront waiting on me."

"I would suggest we catch up sometimes, but I know it's probably not a good look me being your ex."

"Ex? Chance you were married it was nothing more than an affair." Veronica rolled her eyes before pushing the door open to the ladies restroom.

"Ha same old Roni, but you know I finally got that divorce, I'm just in town for a funeral you know I moved back to Chicago." He spoke with sadden eyes.

"Well my condolences who passed?"

"Tiffany's father."

"Wow are the kids okay?"

"They're all taking it pretty bad."

"Of course they are who wouldn't, do they still live in the same house?" Veronica asked curiously as she thought of what kind of flowers she would send.

Veronica knew flowers was the least she could get the women considering the pain she knew she was going through. Chance always complained about how much of a daddy's girl Tiffany was and how much hell her dad gave him from the day they met so she knew it was probably hard on her right now.

Once Chance gave her Tiffany's new address the two headed their separate ways without a second guess. After all these years the chemistry between the two still remained, but they both knew Chance still stood no chance against Terrance. Veronica really did love him infinity times infinity and it was no way she was going to risk messing things up with T anymore.
