The black and white tom was sitting on a trunk, a creamy orange she-cat was sitting on his right and a dark ginger tom on his left. They were staring intently at a large long-furred tom who was showing them a fighting technique that would be used for future battles. The white tom looked patiently at the three young cats. "This move is fairly basic however it can be very powerful against overconfident cats, Stormpaw, why don't you try this move first, you can pracitce on me." The tom narrowed his eyes and got into a fighting position as the young black and white tom stepped forward. He easily dodged the young cats attack and tapped him on the back as the young tom sailed past him. "To slow, you cannot expect your opponent to just let you attack them, you need to be more strategic and do not make your next move as predictable."
The black and white tom nodded and stepped forward, he was facing his mentor with great determination. He had been an apprentice for about a moon, the other two cats that he was siting beside were apart of his litter, they were his younger brother and sister. He thought about what his mentor had told him and adjusted his next attack and managed to just get his mentor, he smiled with pride and looked at his mentor and smiled when he saw pride. He looked at his littermates and smiled at them then looked at his mentor and when he saw him dip his head to dismiss him he grinned then ran away with his littermates behind him. When they reached their hang out spot he whipped around and grinned at his littermates.
"I did it! I actually got Windrush!!" He bounced up and down, proud that he managed to get the move done in one day. He looked at the ginger tom and grinned. "Hah! looks like I won todays bet Flamepaw! Your gonna have to clean the elders den for 4 whole sunrises!"
Flamepaw sighed and grins "okay, a bet is a bet, although I will win next time and you will be on tick duty for 7 whole sunrises!"
Stormpaw just grinned and laughed " oh yeah! We'll just have to see about that." He grinned and jumped at Flamepaw and started wrestling with him, they both growled at each other with playfull expressions. The creamy ginger she-cat just looked at them amused.
"You two are such kits!" The she-cat circled them while giggling, being careful not to get caught up in their skirmish.
Stormpaw looked at her and giggled "oh yeah!" he jumped at her with Flamepaw, they both flattened her. "So Honeypaw, what was that you were saying about us being like kits?"
Honeypaw squeaked and laughed and playfully bit Stormpaws tail and managed to wriggle out from under them. She looked down at them and laughed. "Hah! you can't keep me trapped!" She took off into the woods leaving her two brothers in the dust. Stormpaw sat up and sighed while laughing, he looked at Flamepaw and they both nodded at each other, making a silent truce to get Honeypaw. They both darted after her, running through the undergrowth as though they had the freedom of a bird. As they followed Honeypaws scent trail they began to smell strange things. They could smell rogues, blood, fear and another strange scent, one that Stormpaw had never scented before, yet it somehow stirred a long ago memory. He just shook his head and looked at Flamepaw to see if his brother had noticed as well, he frowned when he saw that Flamepaw wasn't even phased by the scent. When they reached the end of the scent trail they both stumbled to a stop, nearly toppling over each other, their eyes widened in horror and his world suddenly was spun out of control. Beside him he heard his brother choking with shock and greif, every muscle in his body was tense. The scent of blood slowly reaching his scent glands, below that scent was a scent that he had known all his life. Before him was the body of his beloved sister Honeypaw, dead.
