Chapter 2

I giggled and shook my head as I gently shoved him and stuck my tongue out at him. He laughed and returned the guesture as he held up his middle finger at me. I take another sip of my drink and nearly choke on it when someone wraps their arms around me from behind me.

I jump and I turn around to find JC with a big grin on his face.

"Scared you didn't i?" He giggles

"Yes! I almost choked!" I tease

"Oops" He grins and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

"Can you get me another drink?" I ask as I bat my eyelashes

"If I must." He says with a grin and he turns around to find me a drink.

I look over at Ashton who is making fake gagging noises.

"Oh shut up your just jealous you don't have a girlfriend." I retort

"Yeah that's what it is." He says sarcastically as he rolls his eyes

I shake my head and take my phone out of my purse, I have a text from JC.

Jc❤️: I have to go, family emergency, sorry I left without saying goodbye I love you 😘

Me: love you too😘 text me if you need anything

I put my phone back in my purse and look up at Ashton, he towers over me considering I'm only about 5'4

"Do you know where Luke, Sam, and Ashley are?" I ask

"Yeah I just saw them a few minutes ago come on I'll show you."

I follow Ashton through the party, college parties are weird, we play stupid games, and do stupid shit. I'll never understand it. When we finally reach our group of friends Sam is staring off into space as usual, and Ashley is all over Luke.

"Hey guys" I say

Sam snaps out of his trance or whatever the fuck he was doing, " Oh hey Kalani." He says I turn my head to look at Ashton but out of the corner of my eye I can see Sam practically drooling over me. I have to admit he's cute but I love Jc.

"Hey Kal, haven't seen you in forverrr." Ashley says drawing out the word. She's obviously drunk. Luke doesn't speak but I don't see how could considering Ashley is practically sucking his face off.

"Where's JC?" Sam asks

"He had to leave." I say

"Oh... You wanna go outside i need some fresh air." He says

"Uh sure." I say before even thinking about it. I look back as Ashton as I walk towards the door with Sam and he's making kissy faces. I roll my eyes and step outside. The air is cool on my skin and I shiver.

"Here take my jacket." Sam says as he puts it over my shoulders.

"Thanks." I say as I lean against the brick retaining wall that surrounds the fraternity house. My head is throbbing from the loud music and I'm still stressed about this whole week. I had a ton of exams and me and Jc were in an argument for a good portion of of it. "It's been a long ass week" I say to Sam.

"Tell me about it. It's been like the week from hell." He says.

"Besides exams what happened?" I ask

"I uh well my brother, you know the one that was deployed to Afghanistan? Well he died, trying to disable a bomb." His voice cracks on the last word and I can tell he's trying not to cry.

"Oh Sam... I'm so sorry." Before I know it I'm wrapping my arms around him.

...

I wake up the next morning with a pounding headache, a hangover, and unfamiliar pair of arms wrapped around me. I look down and notice the familiar tattoos.... Did I sleep with Sam?!
