Chapter 3

I lay there for a good five minutes before attempting to peel Sam's arms off of me. I slip out from his grip and get out of bed as quietly as possible and attempt to find my clothes in the unkempt room. After a while I give up on trying to find my clothes and end up just putting on a pair of his sweatpants and one of his t shirts. I manage to find my purse and phone and try to sneak out of there as quietly as possible. But being the clumsy person I am I trip over a pair of his shoes in the middle of the floor.

"Fuck!" I say as I stumble and hit the ground.

"Kalani?" Sam says as I stand to my feet.

"Uh yeah." I say sheepishly looking down at my feet. He runs his hands through his hair and rubs his eyes.

"What the hell happened last night?" He says.

"I honestly have no idea... But you know even if anything did happen between us -" Sam cuts me off.

"Stop just stop... Let's just pretend nothing happened alright?" I nod my head and then turn and leave as quickly as possible. On my way out I'm stopped by Ashton.

"Where have you been young lady?" He says with a smirk.

"Shut up." I say as I punch his arm. My head pounds from my hangover and I just want to go back to my dorm and sleep. "Can you drive me back to my dorm please?" I ask him. I took a cab here last night and I'm not walking home.

"If I must." Ashton says with a grin as he grabs his keys from the counter in the kitchen.

We get in his old Jeep and he starts the car. "So are you gonna tell Jc or what?"

"What are you talking about?" I say

"Come on Kalani you know I'm not stupid."

I sigh, " I wasn't planning on it alright."

Ashton shakes his head.

"You're so dead." He says as he pulls into a parking spot near my building on campus. I roll my eyes and flip him off as i get out of the car.

"Love you too!" He shouts as he pulls away.

I make my way back to my room and take some Advil. This headache is killing me. I look at myself in the mirror looking at my makeup which is smudged everywhere. I take a makeup wipe and wipe it off then I brush my hair and grab my things for the shower. I walk down to the showers and take a long shower attempting to wash the smell of the smoke from my hair from the party last night. I scrub my face and hope I look a little better. I get out of the shower and wrap my hair and body in towels.

"Hey Kalani!" Ashley says.

"Uh hi ash." I say and try to avoid any further conversation I'm not in the mood to talk to her or anyone at that. I walk back to my room as quickly as possible. I put my hair up into a messy bun and put on a cotton long sleeve shirt and a pair of yoga pants. It's only October but it's getting cool quickly. I lay down on my bed and begin to drift off. Im awoken by Jc kissing me.

"Jc? Why are you here?" I say my voice

hoarse.

"I figured I would bring you some stuff I know you don't do hangovers very well." He hands me a Gatorade and I gratefully accept it. My mind is racing, what really happened between me and Sam? And what am I supposed to tell Sam? He lays down next to me and I lay my head on his chest. I feel like the worst girlfriend ever.
