He wiped the blood that dripped from his lip, looking at the beaten guy in front of him. His stomach twisted at the sight. Oh, he wanted to throw up. he was mad at himself - how did he let it get this far. Nick sat down on the cold ground, letting the bruised stranger scurry off to wherever he came from. Chris' black SUV pulled up, and nick stood, dusting off his trousers and going into the car.
"We all good?" Chris asked, referring to what had happened.
Nick nodded quietly, "he'll steer clear," was all he told his older brother, who was looking at Nick's face before having his own form a confused expression.
"How did you get hit?" He asked carefully, reaching his hand out only to have it smacked away by nick. The younger boy looked away from his brother, who had just got hit by realisation, "Did you take your meds?" He asked again, already knowing the answer.
"If i didn't the guy would be dead by now," Nick defended, "I'm sorry, i got tired, the meds do that. look, i really just wanna go home, and forget about what just happened," he told Chris who seemed too focused on the steering wheel.
the car drove off into the silence. nick knew chris was mad at him, but he knew that Chris doesn't care, as long as that guy doesn't try and scam them out again. Looking down at his bloody knuckles, Nick felt his head pound. his hands throbbing. heart aching. God, he really didn't want to live like this. he didn't like hurting people, but this is the life he can't escape from.

Cierra stood outside the cafe, the warm breeze of the early night wrapping around her bare legs. her black dress reached mid-thigh, thank god her brother wasn't home to see her otherwise he'd make her leave the house in sweats. still, the note on the fridge has got to suffice. she checked her phone, it was almost ten past eight. Where were they? she almost began to believe they weren't really going to pick her up.
Then, a black mercedes pulled up, and stopped in front of her. the windows rolled down and revealed Zion. "Sorry i'm late," He told her calmly, but there was something a little off with him - then again, who was she to say that.
She smiled, and got in the car, noticing it was only the two of them. "Where's Nick?" She asked, looking at Zion who started the car. This time he really did tense, and she wasn't imagining it. "Is everything okay?" She wondered out loud, her concern evident.
Zion smiled, genuinely, when he looked at her, "Yeah, he just had something to take care of," he said quietly. "You like him, huh," it was almost as if he was telling her.
Cierra looked down at her shoes, "I barely know him," she replied as calmly as she could. She looked back up at zion who gave her a look of disbelief, "I mean, yeah, he's cute or whatever," she blushed.
"He's cute?" Zion laughed, "Well, cierra, i have known that guy my whole life, we're best friends. our parents were best friends, so trust me when i say he was happiest i've seen him be at the cafe in a long time," his smiled slowly faded and he quickly turned to see her looking at him with an expression of awe. "i'm serious,"
Cierra didn't know what to say, instead she smiled and offered to put the radio on. From there, the car journey was filled with the sound of music. They pulled up in front of a large grey house, there were cars already in the drive and the lawn had people scattered about on the grass. Cierra immediately tensed, she shouldn't have agreed to this. the crowd would be too big, too much. zion looked at her with a worried frown, as he noticed her distressed look. she gave him (and herself) a reassuring smile.
