Whitney POV

I sat down on the white love seat across from my mother who was sipping her lemon water. I crossed my legs and sat back.

"Hello, Mother." I said breaking the heavy silence.

"Hi, sweetheart." She set her glass down on the coffee table and smiled warmly. "I've missed you."

"I do, too. I'm sorry I just wanted to spend as much time as possible with Michael when I got back." I explained.

"How is my son in law?"

"Great." I clapped silently.

"I heard your album." My mom stated. "Your voice was so thrilling and intense and warming. Whitney, you have a lot of talent."

"Thank you. I didn't want to make a album when I got back but it just popped up. You can't ignore a song once you the lyrics. You have no choice but to record it."

"When are you going to release another one?"

"Oh, Mother, not for a while. I'm relaxing. If a song pops up, I'll record it but not make a album and release it. I'll keep the album until I'm ready to release it."

"Honey, I'm so proud of you. Your success, your talent, and the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with. You guys are a powerful couple. Imagine how much talent your kids will have." She chuckled.

I swallowed when she mentioned kids. It's too soon to tell her so ima wait for the time when I'm about to leave. That's the best thing. If I tell her now then the whole conversation will be turned to the baby.

"Mother, how have you been?" I changed the subject.

"I'm fine. Thanks for asking." She picked up her glass and took another sip before setting it. "I been think about my parents a lot. It's been twelve years since their passing."

I started crying silently. Even though I had no reason. I'm not the type to cry unless something's really bothering me.

"Come here." My mom said.

I hesitated as I slowly walked over to her. I kneeled on my knees and rested my head on her lap. I remember when I was little we would share this moment off bond and peacefulness.

"Mother, I have to tell you something." I lifted my head to look at her.

"Go ahead." She smiled.

I was looking for the words. I couldn't just say it causally. I was anxious and had butterflies.

"Mother, I'm pregnant." I said finally.

She was quiet for a long time, probably digesting the news she just heard. I sobbed. Not out of agony, but out peacefulness. She took my face in her hands and smiled.

"Congratulations." She whispered.

If there was one thing I love about my mother, is her kindness. She can always understand me even at my worst moments. I told her my thoughts and she smiled again.

"Do you know I admire about you? I used to envy it. The fight in you. Your strength. Courage. You never gave up. Even before you became a pop star. I'm proud to call you my child. Don't ever forget that. And thank you for telling me how you feel." She kissed my forehead.

"Thanks, mama." I said and rested my head on her lap again.
