When Clary and Jace finally got back to Luke's house dinner had just came out of the oven." Hey mom, what are we having? It smells good," Clary said as she entered the dinning room to help Luke set the table."One of your favorites. Chicken Fedactini Alfredo," Jocelyn spoke over her shoulder. Jace entered the dinning room quietly because he was always afraid to say the wrong thing when he was near Clary's mom. Luke however was more comfortable to be around with.
"Hey Luke, how's it going?" Jace finally said with a bit more confidence as he shook his hand." Pretty good. You?" Luke replies than he got back to setting the table."never better," he replied as he took off his jacket and hung it at the back of his chair. Jace felt a little left out on helping so he figured why not kiss up to Jocelyn now and help her. Jace quickly turned around and walked over to the counter where Jocelyn had the food.
" Oh let me take that for you Mrs. Garroway,"Jace said as he kindly took the bowl of noodles from her hands and headed towards the table to set it down. " Why thank you Jace that is very kind of you," she said truly meaning her gratitude, which surprised him a lot, but he wasn't complaining. It was good progress that she was warming up to him. He set the bowl down and turned around to help with the rest of the food. When everything was ready, they all sat down together and enjoyed the delicious pasta.
Clary knew that Jace was gonna try to get her mom to like him but she never thought that he could be a bigger kiss up than he was right now. He must of truly loved her to kiss up to her mom as much as he was doing. To be honest it was rather funny to watch the charming Jace Herendale to try so hard to get one person to like him." Thank you Mrs. Garroway for dinner. It was absolutely delisouse," Jace said putting his endless charm to work. It worked because Jocelyn giggled and blushes a little and thanked him for the compliment. She either got hit in the head by a brick or she was starting to trust him.
