[1] My Promotion

I sat at my large desk, my eyes fixated on my very fine co-worker, Trevor. I wasn't quite the talker, but seeing as he was one of my only friends in the workplace despite my shy tendencies, I didn't want to ruin our friendship by telling him I thought he was the finest nigga on the planet.

Come on Ken, get your mind out the gutter. I thought to myself as I put my glasses on and focused my attention back to the reports I was supposed to be filing... of course with the occasional glance over at Trevor in his office across the hall from mine. I shook my head and started typing.

"Girl you ain't slick. I know you looking at him." My best friend, Jadaya, leaned against the doorframe to my office before sashaying her wide hips towards me.

"Bitch please. I'm working." I waved her off, knowing damn well I wasn't 3 minutes before hand. She giggled and rolled her eyes.

"Alright well, since you're working soooo hard how about we go out tonight? You need to go! Have some funnn... lighten up a little!" She did a little dance, making me laugh. Suddenly our phones dinged, along with a couple others here and there.

"Hold that thought sis. Aria's annoying ass wants us in the board room. Now." I let out a loud sigh before pushing myself out of my chair and making my way to my manager, Aria's office. I looked over at Trevor's desk where he still remained, indicating he didn't get a text about this important meeting Aria was holding.

Jadaya and I entered the board room, our moods instantly dropping as we looked around at the extremely serious faces looking right back at us.

"Ladies, thank you for joining us. Finally." Aria stated. I tried my hardest not to jump over the big ass mahogany table in the middle of the floor and whooping her ass.

Ever since I arrived at Mason Brown Law Firm, she's had it out for me and I'm honestly not sure why. Maybe it's because my ass is fatter than hers. Who knows.

"Since everyone is all here, I can start this urgent meeting. To start, I'd like to thank all of you for working so hard for Mason Brown, and I am extremely grateful for your extra hours put in following our last major case." Everyone clapped as she paused her little speech.

"Now, to get down to the reason I called for this meeting. I'd like to inform you that you all are being promoted and including myself, will be moving to a new firm because of this promotion. Before you all get too riled up, I need to announce the CFO of the new criminal justice sector. Kennedy Brooks." She said my name with so much enthusiasm you would actually think she was happy for me.
