Monday, 12:43 P.M.

I sat at my desk, taking calls and getting acquainted with my coworkers and clients. I was in the middle of taking notes on a new case I would be taking before I got a knock on my door.

"Come in!" I called out before Brooklyn came in looking down at the clip board in hand.

"Hey Brooklyn, what's up?" I asked, putting my pen down and looking up at her.

"Hi Ms. Brooks I-"

"Don't be so formal! I told you to call me Kennedy!" I giggled at Brooklyn's cuteness.

"W-Well Ms. Kennedy..."

Not what I meant but that's a start.

"The boss has made arrangements to meet with you at lunch at Madame Lorren, out firm's private restaurant on the 50th floor at 1:15." She continued. My mind immediately went to Aria, and I quickly refused.

"I have a lot of work to finish up here, are you sure it can't wait?" I almost pleaded.

"Well no, Mr. Preston is expecting you, and he gets cranky when people don't follow orders. Between you and me, I'd much rather have you as the head around here, the boss is a lot more of a handful than you think..."

Oh trust me, I know.

I sighed and stood up from my desk.

"What time is it now?" I asked, pulling my glasses from my face and looking at Brooklyn.

"12:50." She said while looking at her Apple Watch.

"Well looks like I should get going then shouldn't I?" I picked up my wallet out of my matching Burkin bag before making my way past Brooklyn.

"Would you mind taking my calls for me? I've started taking notes on the Molestation case, but there's still some things I need to finish up. Can you handle?" I asked her politely, looking down at my phone for the time again.

"Yes ma'am. Enjoy your lunch!" She said perkily before practically skipping to my desk. I giggled a little before making my way down the hallway and to the elevator.

I wish it was that simple to enjoy a lunch with Mr. Preston...

Monday, 1:15 P.M.

After almost 10 minutes of convincing the hostess I was in fact the new CFO and I had a lunch with Mr. Preston, she finally led me to his table. As I approached the table my heart began to pound as I looked into his dark eyes. I took a deep breath before adjusting my jacket and taking a seat.

"Thank you Lynn." Mr. Preston said before sliding $100 over to her.

"Thank you Mr. Preston." Lynn blushed. She picked up the money, gave me a stank look, before practically slamming my menu on the table.

"Enjoy." She said rudely before leaving Mr. Preston and I alone in the secluded, V.I.P section of the restaurant.

After I finished admiring how sharp he looked, I stuck my hand out for Mr. Preston to shake. He looked at me before chucking darkly.
