Chapter 2
Puer de Nocte led me to two giant midnight black doors.
"Come on the dining hall is just in here" He told me. The whole walk here I was a little weary about walking so close to him, but he kept reassuring me that he wouldnt get in trouble, so eventually I loosened up. As we got towards the door though, all of that looseness went right out the door and I was stiff and nervous all over again.
He must have noticed because he started to try to reassure me.
"Relax." he said. "Remember what I said back in the hall? Skin color doesnt matter. No one will get in trouble and no one will judge. Just be yourself, they'll love you." He's right, I have to show them that I am just as good as them no matter my skin color. I squared my shoulders, regained my confidence, and pushed open the doors. What I saw next suprised the heck out of me.
All around I saw men, women, and children of all races, laughing and having and all around good time. There were interracial couples holding hands, hugging, and kissing eachother and no one was giving them a second glance. Children of all races were mingling and having fun and no one was scolding them unless they were telling them to slow down or not touch something. It was something I have never seen in all of my years of living. This is what MLK campained for, this was his goal. And I have to say, I have never felt more liberated than I have at that moment. This was what all the Civil Rights movements were about. This was change. And I felt so happy that I was able to be apart of it.
"See? I told you race didnt matter. Now do you believe me?" Puer de Nocte asked me. I was about to answer when a Indian looking girl that was about my age came rushing at me.
"O bonum tandem hic. Praesto sum vobis ut in expergiscimini. Mihi data esse ducem. Nos esse sicut amicorum ego cantionem expectare-"
"Woah there Stella Fillia, the poor girl cant understand anything your saying. Did you forget about the language change? She can only speak English." Puer de Nocte interupted who I assume was supposed to be Stella Fillia.
She looked embaressed. "I am so sorry, I forgot that you were just awaking from your rebirth. You must be so confused right now. But that's okay because it's my job to teach you everything you need to know while being here in Nocte Regnum. What I was trying to say earlier was that I am glad that you are finally awake because I have been anxious to meet you. Also, I was trying to say that I am supposed to be your guide of sorts. We will be sort of like best friends while your learning everything you need to know and hopefully after. But I am being rude, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Stella Filia, or Star's Daughter. My father and mother are the star's god and godess. They are Luna Dea and Rex de Nocte Caelum's most trusted advisors." I decided that I liked here right then and there. She gave of this playful and fun vibe, but she also gave of this loyal and intelligent vibe too. Those are good qualities to have in a friend, which is what I hope for her to be in the near future.
I smiled at her. "I would introduce myself, but I dont really know who I am, which is apparently normal according to Puer de Nocte. It is very nice to meet you too though and I hope we can become good friends as well." At that she smiled. Yup definately good friend material.
"Oh yeah I remember that I was supposed to give you a name. You have been renamed Renatus A Luna which means Reborn From The Moon. When you go down to earth to fulfill your purpose you will go by the alias Rena Tusa Luna. You might be wondering why you would need an alias and what this purpose is supposed to be, but dont worry your questions will soon be answered. All in due time." When she said this her voice took on this serious feel. Something told me that when she had a job to do she took on a no bull type demeanor. I can respect that. What I cant repest is that now I have two mor questions and I am still not getting any answers. This is so frustrating.
