The two men backed away from the bathroom door with confused expressions wiped across their faces.
"Did he just say-"
"Yeah." Tyler didn't even need Mark to finish the question before providing an answer for him.
"Ethan lost his virginity? Why is that so hard to believe?"
Tyler crossed his arms over his wide chest and shrugged, "I mean, I don't doubt it. Reese and Ethan have been getting pretty close lately."
"What about Tucker?" Mark shook his head, "I know they're broken up but you really think the thought of Ethan getting with her will sit well with him?"
"Ethan knows what he's getting himself into. I wouldn't worry too much about that."
Mark entered the living room and sat down on the couch, "I'm always going to worry about him, Tyler."
The burly man lifted his head and sat next to his friend, "Me too, but we really can't do anything about them. He's a big boy, he can make his own decisions."
"Do you think he's going to talk about it?" Mark asked with a puzzled look, "Or do we bring it up? Or do we not bring it up at all?"
Tyler shrugged, "Well, we don't want to embarrass him either."
"Good call."
Ethan Nestor stood under the shower head, the hot water streaming down his naked back as he washed away any memory of the previous night from his body. He pressed his forehead against the chilled wall, the water raining down on him as he stood there under it all. Shampoo wafting through his hair, body wash clinging to his skin, the feeling of her skin still etched into his lips.
He immediately shook away the reappearing thoughts about her because he almost felt he was getting way too ahead of himself. God forbid he become clingy over what could possibly have been a one night stand.
The thought alone might even be worse than rejection itself.
Offering yourself up, becoming vulnerable to one another, all just for the sake of a pleasurable night? That just didn't seem... okay. He prayed to god what happened wasn't just a mere act of lust.
He screwed the nozzle shut, the water coming to a halt. Little droplets trickled down his face as he rubbed his brunette locks through the cloth. Drops of water trailed down his body as he took a look in the mirror, the marking on his skin more visible than they were before the shower.
He stepped out of the bathroom and headed straight for his room, shutting the door behind him and heading to the wooden dresser. He slipped on a pair of grey sweats and the hoodie he had dressed Reese in, her scent still lingering in the stitches of fabric.
A couple of knocks rang his bedroom door, "Are you dressed?" Mark asked behind the ingress.
Ethan cleared his throat, "Uh, yeah!"
The door opened and Mark peered in, "You want to ride with me to campus?"
"Isn't it Tyler's day?"
He shrugged, "His internship called him in so he's going to be leaving pretty shortly."
"Oh, okay." Ethan strapped on his backpack, "You ready to go?"
"Yeah," Mark smiled, "Also, you care to explain the thing you just said thirty minutes ago before you slammed the door in our faces?"
His face went two shades darker, "We'll talk about it in the car."
Reese stared at her computer screen, still shy of nearly three-hundred words. The clock kept ticking but her mind was at a blank. The paper was due soon and she stared blankly at the blackened screen, idle for too long for the text to disappear.
