Michael walked out the front door of the house, the lady remained at the window soaking in a pool of her own blood. He turned and looked up at the window as he stepped from the balcony and took in her appearance, his head tilted to the side before he turned and walked across the street. His eyes watched a pair of children sing and dance past down the street as he walked to the other side of the street where he continued on his adventures.
"Mum, you're going to be late. Just go!" a young man spoke. Michael stopped, turned his head and looked up at the front door of the two storied house that opened slowly. In that time Michael became one with the shadows and watched silently and observed the mother and child interacting from the front porch. "Wish dad the best of luck for me. I'll see you tonight" he waved.
A car pulled up down the street and Michael watched the mother hurry down, open the side door and climb in. The car pulled away from the curb as firecrackers began going off. Flashing lights filled the street as kids cheered and danced around them. He turned his head back to the face of the house before he began moving up the driveway silently, his shadow crawled along the wall. A light came on and he stopped, turned and looked at the person in the window.
The boy was holding the phone to his ear as he laughed. He was unaware of Michael's presence. Michael moved onwards and entered the backyard where a dog was resting. Its ears jerked upwards, it's eyes widened in alert and it began growling and pouncing across the yard to where Michael was. He looked down at the dog as it barked. Michael stood tall above it, his knife was held tightly in his hand when he lifted it and lunged at the dog.
"Matt, where'd you go?" the voice on the other end of the line spoke.
Matt had heard the dog bark and then yelp, and now nothing but silence filled the house as he stepped out into the hallway, his eyes scanning both directions.
"Maxx, where are you buddy?"
"Matt?" The voice called again.
Quickly lifting the phone, the boy looked ahead at the backdoor and frowned. It was wide open, a breeze sweeping inside and sending shivers down his spine.
"Sorry, thought I heard something".
He shook his head, walked down along the hallway and closed the backdoor and turned the lock over without looking outside where he would find Maxx, neck twisted, eyes wide and body coated in blood planted in the middle of the pathway.
"How's the dance?"
The voice spoke; "Amazing. You should see Allyson and Cameron, gender-bender Bonnie and Clyde".
Matt smiled, "that's amazing. Tell them I said hello".
The voice returned a smile. "Trust me, I will".
"Take it easy" Matt said while Michael appeared behind him, his body hidden away in the shadows of the corners of the living room. His white mask reflected beneath the dull ceiling lights, the dark eye holes scanning across the room. "Bye".
Matt placed the phone down and walked over and sat down on the lounge and lifted the TV remote up and turned it on. The screen lit up and Matt lifted his gaze, saw Michael's mask in the reflection and gasped and went to stand up. A dirty strong hand reached down, grabbed Matt by the throat and pulled him back down into the chair.
Matt grabbed at his hands, clawing at the room around him in order to break free. Tears lifted from his eyes and he let out a scream that was then cut off by a knife being driven into the side of his skull, his eyes went wide, his breath hitched and he tensed up beneath the blade and Michael pulled it out and shoved the boy forwards where he crashed into the coffee table, his eyes remaining wide the entire time.
