A Dark Reflection
(Unedited)
~Trapped. I was trapped in a thick blanket of cold water. My heavy, water filled lungs screamed helplessly out for air, something I don't think they'll ever get again. My tired arms thrashed violently, trying to move to safety, but I wouldn't move. My fragile body panicking as air bubbles escaped my lips.
My doe like brown eyes looked around in pure panic, looking for something or somebody to save me. But nobody was there. I turned in a circle, shock entering my body, across from me, floating in the light blue water, was me. A replica of myself, staring back at me, copying my every move.
Quickly I looked up, a dazzling bright light shined from above the surface. My tired arms trashed once again, my body not letting me swim upwards towards safety. I felt myself only falling deeper into the water, air leaving my lungs as I began to gasp for the invisible air, water gushing into my mouth and down into my lungs. I was Drowning. Drowning once again.
Whimpering could vaguely be heard as my eyes quickly shot open. My heart was beating quickly while beads of sweat trickled down my forehead. It only took me a few seconds to notice that I was the once making the whimpering noise, but now I know it was only a nightmare.
"Hey, hey, hey." Somebody said gently. My brown eyes quickly looked over towards the person next to me, it was Jace, a very shirtless Jace at that. His blonde hair messy from sleep while his two-toned eyes held worry. "It was just a bad dream." He spoke again, his eyes gazing into mine.
"Jace." I breathed out heavily, he smiled comfortingly and pulled me back down into the comfort of our bed before I rested my head upon his bare chest, my hand moving up to play with the ring around his neck. "I'm sorry for waking you up." I whispered while his fingers slowly ran through my hair, making me sigh in pure comfort.
"It's okay." Jace whispered back "Are you sure you're alright?" He asked, moving to lay on his side, our faces now facing each other as I moved to lay my head upon his arm. "Yeah." I nodded gently "I, uh, was back at Lake Lyn, underwater, drowning."
"Oh, Ari." Jace frowned, his hand moving up to cup my cheek. "You're all right now, I won't let anything bad happen to you."
"I know that Jace." I replied back, my eyes moving away from his as I gazed towards the window behind him. "Everything that happened back at the Lake, I just can't seem to forget about it, it's like a stupid broken record that keeps playing inside my head."
"It's not exactly top of my vacation list either." Jace smirked.
"Clary's brother's still alive." I said, my eyes moving to look at Jace "Somewhere out there, Jonathan actually fucking exists."
"I know." Jace nodded "It's a lot to process."
"I mean, he was a bloody child." I whispered, I actually do feel pity for Jonathan, I feel sorry for him. He was experimented on as a child, he never died for angels sake, he must have endured so much pain. Makes me wanna hug him.
