VALERIE'S POVAs he reached to put his arm around me a second time, I shuddered but did not wince away. His touch made butterflies appear in my stomach and my heart started beating fast. It was almost comforting.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?" he asked. Shrugging, I said this more to myself than him, "What have I got to lose?" I laughed at the absurdity of what had been happening these past few hours; one second I used to think of Alejandro as my brother and the next we were due to get married and I had to think of him as a husband.
"You know, talking everything out will make you feel a little better," his voice knocked me back to reality, away from my thoughts. "You don't seem like you're from around here," I stated in an attempt to change the subject. "I came here a few days ago, I'm from Chicago," he sounded hurt and unmotivated.
We sat in silence for a few minutes, his arm around me and me resting my head on his shoulder. "I'm due for an arranged marriage to my best friend who I practically see as my brother!" I exclaimed. Now that I had heard and said it myself, it made me realise that my entire future had been planned out carefully, years before and there was nothing I could actually do about it.
Realising that he had been silent for a while after I had accidentally blurted out my whole life story. I carried on, "A-and the only reason we are being forced to marry is because of our stupid family businesses!" I stuttered as I choked back the tears. Suddenly, large, hot, drops of tears started plummeting down my cheeks and I started sobbing, no longer being able to hold it in.
The hooded-boy looked at me then let out a cold, deep laugh, "Life sucks doesn't it?" he whispered quietly, looking out in to distance. Suddenly he removed his arm off of me and I instantly felt a chill over my shoulders. With his arm around me I felt protected though I had never met him before, I knew I could trust him. "Hey, what's you name?" he asked me, he had turned his face back to mine and his eyes were on me. They shone brightly and I then realised that they were filled with tears. Smiling politely I said, "My name's Valerie, what about you?" He hesitated as if unsure on whether he could trust me, What was the big deal about his name anyway that he had to think it over before telling me? "My name's Noah," he replied with a genuine smile.
"So Noah, what about you? What's your story?" I asked in return. His face went bright red and he turned away in embarrassment, "Noah it's okay if you don't want to talk about it." I tried lightening the mood however, he stared at his feet then at me. "it's okay," he stated "if i'm going to tell anyone, its bound to be you."
For no reason at all I started blushing, I felt a compelling attraction to this guy. The way his grey eyes sparkled in the light, the way his smile could wash away all my worries, the way his voice was like music to my ears. He was just so perfect. I felt more than just butterflies but I knew I needed to stop, I was engaged for heavens sake! For a moment he looked up at the sky, then he faced me, Leaned in,
and kissed me.
Passionately!
In my mind fireworks were going off.
I grabbed his arms and wrapped them around my waist, his lips broke apart from mine. I was so disappointed did i do something wrong?
"If we're gonna do it, let's not do it here" he chuckled. I got up and grabbed his hoodie.
We ran across the streets of Cancún, reckless and free.
The wind drowning out our voices as we screamed through all the neighbourhoods,
Eventually I got us to a hotel.
"Hard rock hotel?"
Excited I exclaimed "Yep, lets go!" And he followed me inside. We signed in and rushed up the stairs, no time for an elevator.I stumbled into our room and began ripping my clothes off, I had so much pent up emotions and this was how I would release them. He tore off this pants and lustfully gazed at my figure. I ran over to him, half naked and dragged him into bed.
I could tell he was tense so I rubbed my hands against his back and his lips clashed with mine, and that's when the fireworks showed up again.
I rolled on top of him, to take control. He kicked the duvet off the bed and began to clutch onto my waist...
