Emily's POV
After the accident in the pool, I tried to avoid Frank at home. I would stay in my bedroom alone and not talk to him, even though he tried to talk to me.
That night, we had dinner inside and I didn't say a word. When we finished I went upstairs into my bedroom. I looked at the empty bedroom, as I had most of my stuff already packed. Suddenly, Frank came into my bedroom and closed the door behind him.
"What's wrong with you?" he said
"Please, Frank, go" I said crossing my legs on the bed
He sat down next to me and held my hands.
"Have I done something?" he asked
I took a deep breathe and looked at him in the eyes.
"Listen, Frank. You have done nothing, but..." I started
"But...?"
"This won't work. I love you so fucking much but you are still my cousin. And we won't manage to do something. Sooner or later they will discover and won't let us be together."
He was shocked.
"We can love whoever we want to, Emily" he said holding my hands tighter
"But it won't work"
"Yes, it will" he said almost whispering and looking down
I could tell he started to drop some tears, and he barely cried, for not saying never.
"Frank" I whispered
He looked up at me, crying. I wiped his tears and looked at him.
"Don't cry"
"How don't you want me to cry? You are leaving me, and I love you. And if we try it can work. It doesn't matter if you are my cousin, love is love" he said
I swallowed and stood quiet for a while.
"Please" he said
I looked at him. I knew it would be hard, and I was scared for the fact that someone could find out, but I loved him so much and he was right. I simply nodded. He smiled to me and kissed me. We made out for a while.
"Frank" I said
"Okay, okay"
He smiled to me and went to his bedroom. I couldn't let him kiss me when there was someone at home.
Frank's POV
I went to bed happy. I fixed everything with Emily and things were going good again.
The next day, we woke up early and had breakfast before leaving.
"Have a nice trip" said our granny
We all kissed goodbye and got into our cars. Five minutes later we stopped at a gas station. I got off the car and headed to Emily's. I knocked on her window and she opened it.
"Hey, Frank" she said
"I am bored. I am alone in the car" I said with a little laugh
"Oh. Well I am listening to Green Day" she said making a weird but funny facial expression
"Lucky" I said laughing
"Huh" she said with a sassy facial expression
I looked to my right while licking my lower lip and then I looked back to Emily.
"I broke my phone" I said proudly
"How?" she asked laughing
"It fell to the toilet this morning" I said nodding and pressing my lips
She broke into a loud laughter. She was so beautiful when she laughed, I loved it.
"Don't laugh!" I said softly hitting her shoulder
She kept on laughing.
"It's not funny"
"Oh yes, it is" she said looking at me laughing
I frowned while bitting my lip, trying not to smile.
"You wanna laugh" she said with a playful smile
I looked left and then smiled.
"Okay, you win" I said nodding and laughing
"Great" she said smiling
I put my tongue out to her and she blinked an eye.
"Frank, get in the car!" I heard my dad say "We are going"
I nodded and looked back to Emily again.
"Bye" I said with a smile
"See you later" she said with a smile
"I love you" I mouthed
She put her index finger on one side of her mouth and the middle one on the other, and then put her tonge out moving it from one side to another. Fuck. I laughed shaking my head and then walked back to the car.
During the trip I could only think about Emily and what happened this summer. I finally could call her mine. The girl I had been in love with since I had memory was mine now. Lots of things happened between us this summer and I couldn't be more thankful. But I couldn't stop thinking of what would happen when we would arrive home. I wasn't sure if I should tell Gerard about us. I mean, he was my best friend but I wasn't sure if someone should know about us, but the bad part is that you can't be in a relationship in secret because, soon or after, or you end up breaking up or everyone ends up finding out. And the last thing I wanted were my family to find out about us.
I soon fell asleep. When I woke up when we arived, I saw Emily shaking me.
"Wake up, Frank! We are here"
