Elle~

A door clicked shut loudly, and my eyes opened, startled by the sudden noise.

Looking around at my unfamiliar surroundings, I saw that I was standing up instead of laying in my bed, and I was no longer in my room.

Panicked, I noticed that the doors behind me were a dark shade of wood, even though it was nighttime, just like———

I'm in Lord Pine's chambers.

I went to open one of the large doors, when I heard rustling, causing me to turn around quickly, fearing something, or SOMEONE, had heard me and was right behind me.

In the midst of a pile of ruffled sheets, there was a figure sound asleep. I walked slowly toward the figure, my body tensing when it would move. To my surprise, lying on the bed, was Lord Pine himself, but something was different. The black, mysterious cloak usually covering his body was no longer there, hanging on a nearby hook, leaving bare skin. He was covered in dark scars, similar to tribal tattoos, snaking around his arms and torso. Dark blonde hair with light blonde streaks covered his scalp, and my hand pulsed with the urge to touch his silky locks. As he inhaled and exhaled, I felt my body go into a calm, relaxed state. Slowly, I reached my hand forward in a trance to touch his face, with an urge to see if he was real. Then, his eyes shot open, resting his gaze on my eyes.

"You," He growled, shooting upward, and putting my hand in a painful grip. I screamed, trying to get out of his grip, when he let go, sending me head over heels backward. Lord Pine got up, and started walking toward me, with anger flowing through his eyes. I quickly got up on my feet, and shot through the door, hearing a loud roar behind me.

"GET BACK HERE!" He roared as I sprinted down the staircase, heading for the entrance doors. Ash saw me, grabbing my hand to bring me to a halt.

"Where are you going?" He asked frantically.

As I tried to pull my hand out of his grip, I glanced behind me, and saw Lord Pine running down the stairs straight for me, the angry look plastered onto his face.

"Please, let me go." I pleaded frantically with him.

Ash gave me a sad look but let go of my hand. I pulled the door open quickly, the bitter cold seeping through my skin, sending chills through my body. Frost covered the ground, and my bare feet were as cold as ice. I sprinted for the woods, forgetting about the cold, bitter temperature.

When I ran out of breath, I couldn't see the castle anymore, just gnarled trees, looming overhead. Then, a bone-chilling howl burst through the cold air, jolting a reminder out of my memory.

Lord Pine had told me that there are terrifying wolves in these woods.

Oh God no.

Looking around at my surroundings, I realized that I was in a large clearing, perfect for wolves to spot an easy kill. The howling grew closer, and I grabbed the largest stick I could find, hoping it would help put my death off by a few minutes. Bushes rustled nearby, releasing wolves from their grasp, and my fear of death intensified.

"Stay away." I whispered, and the wolves snarled, circling around me. This is the end. My death will soon be approaching.

As I began to accept my fate, a large roar broke through the silence. Lord Pine, riding a horse and a longsword strapped to his side, shot through the bushes. He unsheathed his sword, slicing wolves' heads clean off their necks, the useless bodies dropping to the ground. Pain thundered through me, and I realized a wolf had bitten my leg, leaving large teeth marks in my leg. I cried out to Lord Pine, and he turned his horse toward me, fear spreading across his face. His horse charged, and he sliced off the last wolf's head, turning back toward me.

When a sharp pain sliced trough my head, I fell to the ground, crying out as my body made contact with the cold, hard earth. Lord Pine jumped from his horse, running to my side.

"Elle." He whispered, his fingers brushing away the hair from my face and scanning my body for other injuries. I gazed up at his face, and slowly pressed my hand against his uncovered face.

"Thank you." I whispered, and my eyes fluttered closed, my mind growing as dark as the night.

A short, action-filled chapter, but Chapter Seven is almost complete! I plan to be writing as much as I can while balancing two jobs as well! Thanks for reading, voting, and commenting! ~Bre
