Jimin storms into the throne room, hard glare set on his father who sits there, whispering to his staff. "How could you?" Jimin snaps angrily, stopping a few steps in front of his father and crosses his arms over his chest.
His father looks up at him, furrowing his eyebrows. "Son, what's wrong?"
"How could you flog the man who's kept me safe all this time? He's never hurt me, he's protected me."
"Duke Jeon sai-"
"He wasn't even there!" Jimin shouts out, balling his hands into fists at his sides. His fingernails dig into his palm, angry tears threatening to spill because he's angry, pissed off at his father, at the Duke more than anything and everyone who just stood there and watched like it was some performance for their own amazement. When it was nothing but a lethal attempt to harm someone who is innocent of everything, someone who deserved nothing of the sorts.
"You got injured."
"From my own doing! I forced him to take me out to the village, he can't say no to me because he works for me! He was trying to do his job as a knight and stop a thief and I got in the way, I thought I could help!" Jimin whimpers out at the thought of Yoongi, how broken he looked on that table. Tears start spilling from his eyes as he wipes them away furiously with his palms.
"I never knew this, Jeon didn't tell me any of this." his father speaks lowly.
Jimin clenches his fists, "he wasn't even there, father. I know what happened and Knight Yoongi didn't deserve any punishment."
His father pauses for a second, thinking over the situation before he nods at his son. " Very well, I'll give him compensation for his unrightfully made punishment, does that make you satisfied?"
Jimin bites back saying anything. No compensation is worth as much as Yoongi's life which was on the line. He could've died had Jeongguk continued to flog him and it makes his blood run cold, a chill runs down his spine as anger slowly runs through his veins.
He only nods. "He can't even stand," Jimin says in a whisper, loud enough for his father to hear.
"Jimin... I'm sorry. He can come back when he's healthy, maybe he's not suited to be your guard," his father clasps his hands in front of him, his eyes reading Jimin carefully as the boy widens his eyes, shaking his head.
"No, no, please I need him," he says hurriedly. He wants to say how he can't live without him, how he wouldn't be happy if he ends up having to marry Jeongguk and not even get to see his love. Besides, his last guard was a nightmare. He was old and handsy, though no one believed him.
His father nods slowly, seeing his son's distress clear on his face. "Very well, for now, Knight Kim will be your guard until Knight Min is healthy enough."
