"Are you sure you're okay? You sound a little low" I asked Cindy as a pang of worry hit me hard.
"Okay, just spill it out baby bean. What's gotten into you? You've literally asked me this for the fifth time since you called" Cindy replied over the phone.
I don't know. Maybe because I haven't seen you in so long" I lied as I grabbed a bottle of Gatorade and exited the grocery store.
"Is there anything you wanna tell me Cath?" She asked with a serious tone.
That's it. I don't think I can keep this from her anymore.
I took a deep breath and replied "Can you come over tomorrow?" I tried to sound normal.
"Ofcourse! I'll be home for dinner. Then we can talk." She said
We spoke for another two minutes and then hung up. I got in my car and started driving.
Could he be still watching me? Now that I've given him the damn flash drive. Oh my god I can't believe he was gonna attack Cindy.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice a guy walking through the street. I was about to hit him when I hit the breaks.
Could this night get any worse?
I smacked the wheel with my fist and came out.
"Hey, I'm sorry. Are you alri- Kyle?" I saw him standing in front of me, perplexed.
"Hey" I touched his arm. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry, my mind was somewhere else" I apologized, slapping my forehead.
"N-----No, d-don't worry. I wasn't being careful" He said nervously, without looking at me.
"By the way, where were you going at this time?" I asked
"Uh----- I just needed some air" He responded as his eyes wandered everywhere. "Listen, I have to go. We'll talk tomorrow. Bye." He ran away without looking back.
"I don't know how the fuck am I gonna get through this night" I face palmed, returning to my car.
I reached home and quickly turned on my laptop.
"It's time for me to finally see what was in the flash drive." I let out my breath as I clicked on a video clip on the screen.
