Chapter one
Emmie pull up in front of her new home, well if you could call it that it was an apartment complex. She had always looked down upon them seemed so temporary and immature to live in a home you don't own. And yet she was in awe of it the building was so large and beautiful to her. She had never seen anything like it being from a small town and all. She looked at it for a few minutes till she was interrupted by a native Coloradoian trying to get into the parking complex that she was currently blocking. Emmie quickly moved along into the building and parked. She was eager to get upstairs and see her new home. She carried up all her stuff that she had brought with her in her car from Kentucky, which wasn't a lot. Once every thing was up. She was exhausted beyond anything she had ever felt. Driving all night and most of the day then carrying those boxes it was to much for the little girl could handle.
Still unacquainted with the furniture in her apartment she felt odd siting on the couch. She sat down on the floor and pulled out her phone to text her parents that she made it alright, but while scrolling through her contacts she saw his phone number and couldn't stop herself she called it, praying to god he would answer. The phone rang, it was less then seconds between the ring and pause but felt like forever had past. The ringing broke as the voice on the other end answered," hello?" He said. She hung up the phone abruptly. It wasn't long before he returned her call. She hit the ignore button but the second time she picked up and erupted in tear and gibberish," I'm sorry for bothering you I was hoping for someone else but as soon as you answered the phone I knew it wasn't him and I'm super sorry for bothering you it's all just stupid I'm sorry!" She finished and wiped the tears from her face. And it was dead silence on both ends other then some sniffles on her side. Till he broke the silence and said,"I'm curious now." She was taken aback by his response. She was confused a little why didn't he just hang up why say that."tell me why I could never be the man of your dreams and why you're crying. I figure myself a bit of a voice analysis and I can tell you're very pretty and pretty girls shouldn't be crying."
She chuckled a little and smiled and asked," what do you do?" She joked.
He told her," I'm a carpenter, what about you?"
"I'm an editor. I actually just moved her from Kentucky for a job here." She bragged so proud of her job and getting out of her comfort zone.
He smiled a little as she told him," that's great and I thought I heard a slight accent. That's what first turned me on to the fact you were pretty. Southern women are always very beautiful."
She laughed so hardy she began to snort," I think you have the wrong idea here I don't need your pity compliments and flirting. I'm happy in my life and I could have any man I want. So you can leave if you want to I'll be fine I got over him a long time ago. I just never really got closure and it was frightening talking to him after 7 years." She confidentially but with a hit of shyness stated. Hoping he wouldn't leave because he was the only person she had right now that she could talk about it with but also fear him staying and her saying stuff she didn't want to hear herself say. She was still in love with her ex.
"That's a nice offer but like I said I'm curious but if you would like me to leave I will. I know it must be strange talking to a man over the phone in a new town, in a new state, not knowing anything about him. But see that's a plus you can cry and cuss and be the person you would never let anyone you know hear or see. I'm a stranger and can't see you so you could have a runny nose and you face could look redder than blood and I'll have no idea. And it good for me because I'm bored and there's nothing good on television so you sound super interesting. And I won't make any more comment that sound flirty." He let out a deep breath and waited for her reply but nothing." You still there... um...?" He was interrupted by her saying,"Emmie, and yes. Would you please stay and talk awhile?"
She said regretting giving him her real name.
"Yes, thank you. And my name is Simon."
