Peter got the piece of glass out of her foot quite easily and put a bandaid on it. Emmie only whined and complained a little as she flinched every time he would touch her. Peter then leant her a pair of his shoes and his vacuum so she could clean it up without another injury. It took her awhile to clean the floor due to the fact it was carpet and she wanted to make sure it was all clean and that there was no glass hiding in it. It wasn't long before Peter came over. She answered the door to find him standing there with a box of pizza and she was standing there in what looked like on her clown shoes." Sorry, I've been cleaning totally forgot about dinner. Thank you." She said as she stumbled around in his shoes as she lead him into the kitchen area. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of her, but as she spun around about falling over he struggled to keep a straight face but did because he knew she was self conscious about he clumsiness. He set it down on the table and watched as she made her way back to the vacuum to finish up. Once she was finished she slipped off his big shoes and walked across the newly vacuum carpet and wiggled her toes in it. Peter couldn't help but laugh out loud this time." You're adorable." He said mocking her. She pouted but just replied back," I thought you didn't like me?" As she sat next to him opening the pizza box letting out the savory smell of pepperoni pizza.
"I never said I don't like you just that we are over. And I didn't mean anything flirtatious about it. I'm actually with someone at the moment." He said grabbing himself a slice and taking a huge bite and tearing off most of the cheese.
"Oh, sorry. I feel stupid now." As she picks the pepperoni off eating it.
"Don't be. How would you even know. And seriously that's how you eat pizza?" He said staring at her odd choice of method.
"I am ok with how I eat. You can not make me feel insecure about how I eat thank you very much. And I like pepperoni pizza just don't like to eat the pepperoni on the pizza but it still has the pepperoni grease taste that I like."
See said picking off another piece and putting in her mouth.
"You're weird." He said while taking another huge bite.
The two of them talk and ate for about another hour or so. It was getting late so Peter went home. Emmie smiled as she closed the door she was so happy. She didn't really care that he was with someone else she was just happy him being in her life again. Right after that she heard her phone ring. She wondered who it was this late. She picked up her phone and looked at the number. It was Simon, she quickly answers. "Hello?" She asked questioning whether or not the other night was real. Had her heartbroken mind imagined it? Was it imagining this? He was real what was she thinking. You can't imagine phone calls with a record on your phone. "Hey, sorry I haven't called just been busy with stuff you know."
He answered kinda shy but confident in his voice.
"I get it. No worries it's been busy for me too", she said just exploding with excitement to tell somebody about everything that happened today.
"Oh yeah, like what? If you don't mind me asking?" He said sensing she wanted to say something.
She took a deep breath and questioned whether or not to tell because it was all a bit ridiculous to talk about out loud she thought." I started work today and it was amazing but at the same time I wanted to be a writer and write about story and things that are just waiting to be written about. I'm not good with words like on the phone or even in person but I've always had the ability to write how I feel even when I couldn't say it you know. And more than ever do I feel like I should because I found out my ex lives next door and is really good looking not that he wasn't before but he's just better. He's grown into his ears. He also has a smoking hot girlfriend. I've never met her or have even seen a picture but he just seems like the type of guy now to be with someone so beautiful." She pauses to take a breath and she notices muffled laughter on the other end." What's so funny?" She said offended.
"You. You are just so passionate and southern and I really like it and find it funny. And that isn't me hitting on you just you know I like it in a friend way. But just so you know you sound smoking hot. Now see if I was flirting I would have asked for your number after that but I didn't. So I'm not. You may continue now Emmie." He said thinking he was so smooth but she just laughed and laughed and laughed. He tried to speak but was cut off by it. Once it died down some he asked," what's so funny?"
"You. I like you but I like every guy I meet so it's probably not the real deal. So I have decided that I want to be friends and after I know all his flaws, if I still like him then I'll peruse him romantically. But you're funny because you're definitely attractive and get all the ladies with your smooth sexy voice telling them what they want to hear." She said between laughs.
"Ok. That's fine with me but one question?" He said with a tone of mischief in it.
"Shoot." She said fast.
"Do you really fine me smooth and sexy?" He said as you could hear the ear to ear grin on his smug face.
Emmie stuttered for a moment trying to find the words and then rambled out ," I never said you were just your voice and the phone alters your voice some. No to mention people sometimes use fake phone voices that sound nothing like them in person. And finally I have 5 hours sleep because of the time difference and don't know what I'm saying or even if it actuate. Maybe I should go to sleep now." Her cheeks were so red with embarrassment. And now she was really nervous around him.
"Ok whatever you want Emmie. Goodnight sweet dreams." He said a little disappointed she wanted to leave he was just starting to get to her.
"Goodnight Simon."
She hung up the phone and lied there wondering why she said that to a stranger but wishing she hadn't hung up because she wanted to talk more but was afraid about what after that. She didn't want their friendship to be weird now because she really liked him.
