This was a One-shot written and posted by me on our HSI Club profile last year. However, we HSI members have realized that not everyone goes to that page to read our works.

So hoping to make it easier to share our stories, some of us are posting our One-Shots onto our own pages too. We will not be removing books from the page, these One-Shots will simply be up in both places.

Christmas One Shot:

PHANA'S POV

It's Friday and classes are finally over for the week. I'm so ready to head to the dorms and spend the weekend with Yo.

When I arrive, I knock on his door for a bit, but he doesn't answer. He should be in there because we texted back and forth not too long ago, and he said he'd be at home waiting for me.

Finally deciding just to let myself in, I use the key Yo gave me and open the door. I kick off my shoes and call out to him, "N'Yo? Are you here?"

Still no answer. I move into the main room and I see him standing near the far corner with his headphones on. Ah, well at least I know now why he didn't answer me. I move across the room and wrap my arms around him from behind. He startles and stiffens, then immediately relaxes as he reaches for his headphones and lowers them to his neck and looks up at me.

"P'Pha, when did you get here? I didn't hear you."

Before answering him, I plant a kiss on his soft lips, "I knocked, but when you didn't answer I used my key." I look at what's in front of him, trying to figure out what he's doing.

"What do you think P'? Pretty, huh?"

"Is that a Christmas tree?" I ask, a bit confused.

He smiles at me indulgently, "Of course it is P'. I love Christmas! It's my favorite time of year."

"N'Yo, you celebrate Christmas?"

"Well, yeah. I mean it's not a huge deal, but it's something we've always done. Dad has so many foreign business contacts that he kind of has to recognize the holiday and when mom was alive she loved the decorating part. So, we've always had a small tree and Dad and I exchange gifts."

He pauses, and his next words sound a little sad, "Since it's my first year away from home, I wanted to keep the tradition alive. But, it's ok if you think it's silly, P'Pha. You can just ignore it. It's not a big deal." He pulls out of my arms and starts bustling around the room cleaning up the small mess he created while decorating.

"Hey," I say as I reach out and grab his arm, pulling him back to me. "I didn't say I thought it was silly. I was just a little surprised is all, it's not a widely celebrated holiday here after all. Babe, if it makes you happy to celebrate Christmas then that's fine with me. I'll celebrate with you."

"Really? You will?"

"Of course," I say as I lean in to steal another kiss, but Yo stops me with his hand pressed to my lips.

"Ah ah ah, P'. No kisses for you. We're not standing under the mistletoe."

"What's mistletoe?"

WAYO'S POV

It's Monday morning and Ming is giving me a ride to school. I'm waiting downstairs in front of my building now for him to arrive. When he gets there, I climb into his SUV and turn to tell him good morning.
