There the Whole Time - Aggretsuko - Retsuko x Haida

♥️ Chapter 4 - Nothing else matters ♥️

Pffffffft! Retsuko was sprayed by a gushing torrent of water and spit. "I freaking knew it!" Fenneko coughed awkwardly and handed Retsuko a napkin. "Sorry, I was... Um, slightly startled." Nodding, Retsuko dried her face. "It's understandable," she talked through the napkin, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." Sudden understanding crossed Fenneko's face, as though she was putting two and two together. "No wonder you didn't want me to say anything," Fenneko shuddered, "It would be hell having rumours about that going around..." Retsuko rolled her eyes, "No crap, Fenneko. It's hell having any rumours going around, let alone ones about... Unngh." She face-planted into the table. A hand patted her shoulder supportively. "Hey, chill out. I'm a master at finding things out, but I'm also a master at making sure others don't find things out," Retsuko's eyes darted up to see Fenneko wink, "I knew Haida liked you for aaages. He didn't have the guts to say anything, though." "Really?" her voice was muffled by the table pressed against her mouth. Fenneko stood up and straightened her uniform. "Really. Now get up, lovebird. We better get back before all we can hear is CALENDAR! WhEre aRE yOu!" Giggling at the accurate impression, Retsuko got up herself and followed Fenneko into the corridor.

"Darn, that was tough today, huh?" Gori stretched and reached for her bottled water. Washimi nodded, panting. "But soon we will be in the karaoke bar, hearing all the details about Retsuko's new boyfriend~" Retsuko blushed at Gori's teasing. "Don't make her feel all embarrassed," Washimi lifted a wing to poke Gori, "But we do want to hear all the details!" She added, turning to Retsuko. "Alright," Retsuko promised, chugging back some water. The instructor picked up his belongings and walked to the door. "Protein," he announced before leaving. "Doesn't he have such a way with words?" muttered Gori. Rolling her eyes, Retsuko muttered "More like such a way with a word. And that word is protein." Laughing, the three got up and walked out of the room.

"Brrrrr, it's been getting really cold lately..." Retsuko wrapped her coat around herself tighter. "This guy did give you his coat when you were cold, right?" Washimi asked. "Yes, he's a real gentleman," She rolled her eyes when they gave her a skeptical look and added, "I promise. When I'm with him, nothing else matters." After a few minutes they had reached the Karaoke building, and were in a room. Sitting down, Gori asked, "Well... Who is it?" Retsuko rested her cheek in her hand and stared out into space dreamily. "Haida, do you know him?" Tapping the arm rest with the tip of her wing, Washimi tried to think. "Um... Isn't that the hyena you work with?" She asked. "Tall... Kind of lanky?" Gori added. Retsuko confirmed with a nod, blushing. "I could see that," Washimi muttered thoughtfully, "He does look like your type." "Oh my gosh yes! " Gori agreed, "I'm seeing it now! You two would be so cute together!" Smirking, Retsuko corrected, "Not would, we are so cute together! Well, at least Haida's cute. I don't really know about me..." There was a little poof  from the cushions on Retsuko's couch as Washimi and Gori moved from their seat on the other side of the table to either side of her. "You are the most adorable girl to walk the world," promised Washimi. "Girl! You're amazing and never doubt that!" Smiling, Retsuko stood up and got her microphone out of her handbag. "Thanks guys, now it's time to scream about how nobody at work feels that way." With a press of a button heavy metal music blared out of the speakers. 

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH"
