Song: Rise Up by Andra Day

Scarlett POV:

After my shower and a good sleep; I wake up and get dressed. I find Marcus and talk to him about Meagan to make sure he is alright with her working out with us. Of course he said yes.

It's going on noon and Mekhi is still out so I decide to go on over and talk to his parents without him. I'm really trying to be brave, because I don't want to confront the monster but Meagan needs to be able to protect herself.

When I pull up Meagan opens the door and is running out to body slam me.

"Oh Scarlett, I should have listened to you. Please forgive me I promise it will never happen again."

"Things happen; I'm just glad that you are alright."

"What did you do to that guy?"

"Don't worry about it he will never hurt you or anyone ever again."

She walks with me into the house. I look around but no one is visible. "Are your parent's home?"

"Yes, but why do you want to see them?"

"I just need to ask them something." I half smile. I follow her to another room.

We walk into the family room together. They are both sitting watching the afternoon news on the television. Bethany sees me and jumps up to embrace me.

"Thank you for what you did. It means everything to us that you helped bring our baby girl home." She starts to cry while reaching for a tissue.

"You're welcome, it was nothing really."

"It was to me; how could I, we ever repay you?"

"Seriously, it was no problem. However I have a request to ask of you."

"Anything you name it."

"Anything?" I ask again just to make sure.

Draven was holding in a breath. I bet anything he thought I was going to say something and rat him out. But I won't say anything to Bethany about what he did to my family. If he wants to tell her he can, I just don't have the heart to break hers. Anyone else I would care less about but not her.

"Well after what happened last night it's been bothering me that Meagan has no skills or training to protect herself."

"She has never had a reason to." Draven sets his glass down harshly on the table before fixing himself another drink.

"I know but she needs to be able to and I would like to train her. I have an awesome trainer and Marcus said he wouldn't mind helping."

Meagan's eyes go wide with excitement.

Bethany and Draven look at each other for a second.

"We already talked and she will have a personal guard with her for now on and at all times." Draven says with a stern voice.

"But Daddy!" Meagan starts to get upset and her eyes swell with real tears. I know how she feels that's why I am here.

"I wouldn't do that sir." I tell him.

"And who are you to tell me what to do with my daughter?" He snaps.

"It's just I know what that is like sir. You are going to make her leave. She will run believe me I have been there and besides you and Mekhi or whatever guard dog you have on here is not always going to be around."

"Oh and you are."

"No, I won't that is why she needs to learn how to defend herself. I want to help train her and Mekhi will be there as well."

"I don't want my girl getting hurt."

"Neither do I, believe me I understand sir but if she can't protect herself what do you think will happen?"

"Why didn't you wait for me?" Mekhi says as he enters the room and he is not happy by his tone.

"You were not home and besides I wanted to check to see how Meagan was doing, really doing."

He comes over and puts his arms around me.

His dad is really pissed at me. "You have a lot of guts coming in here and telling me what I need to do."

I stand up to him. I'm only a few inches away. "I'm not afraid of you. If anything I am stronger because of you."

"Scarlett!" Mekhi is trying to get my attention either that or trying to make me calm down.

"What's going on here?" Ask Bethany.

Draven looks at her for a split second and doesn't answer then looks back at me.

"Nothing." I say to her. "Look I can't sit back and see her get hurt again just think about it alright."

I turn to leave and Bethany calls out, "You two are not staying for lunch?"

"Sorry I have a few things to do today. I'll see you later." I attempt to smile back at her, and then turn to walk out.

When I get to my car I let all the air out of my lungs that I did not realize that I was even holding.

Mekhi's arms come around my waist from behind me. He has his head down in my neck breathing me in. "I can't believe you just did that." He says in a soft low voice.

We both jump when we hear squeals coming towards us. "OMG, they said I can. I can't believe you stood up to him, no one ever does that." She beams. "You're such a badass; I so want to be like you."

"Watch the mouth," Mekhi warns her.

I smirk, but then turn serious. "Meagan you need to be you believe me no one and I mean no one wants to be like me."

"You're wrong Scarlett; girls would die to be like you. You have the body, hair and you're so freaking rich on top of that you are a badass. You have everything, hell even a hunk of a male at your side. Who wouldn't want to be you?"

I laugh inside, if she only knew what I have lived through. What I do for a living even. My life is not full of giggles and fairytales and such. I live in a nightmare; in a perfect horror movie believe me no one wants to be me.

She reaches over and hugs me. "You are going to be an awesome sister to hang out with."

"We will see about that. You better be at the house at seven in the morning."

"But it's a Sunday." She starts to whine.

"Honey I work out everyday...see you in the morning."

"Ok, bye Scarlett and thank you again for everything. Bye Mekhi."

We both say bye at the same time before she takes off running back into the house.

"What am I going to do with you?" He says as he moves his hand along my cheek and then rest it right under my jaw, holding my hand in his hands. He pulls into me and takes my lips and then teases me with his tongue. He looks into my eyes for a few seconds. "Where are you going today?"

"Well actually I'm starving but I'm not eating here." I wrinkle my nose up at him.
