Bookworms

It was a day like any other for Christina Nightraven. Weekend meant chilling in the shared apartment with her crazy roommate Felicity Kyle, doing homework *cough* procrastinating *cough* and watching shows occasionally. Plans and nights out with friends did come along sometimes, but today happened to be one of those days when there was nothing of the sort going on and nothing to actually do. The girls were therefore bored out of their minds.

Thank goodness there was always a solution for Christina; books. You bet she was a bookworm. Everywhere she went, she always had a story of some sort in hand. In the cafeteria, during breaks, heck, even when she was being lazy lying around on the couch, the girl's nose was almost always buried into a book, eyes swallowing up thousands and thousands of words.

That trait of hers happened to be the subject at hand that morning at the restaurant table. Feli and Christina, desperate for entertainment, had decided to go ahead and eat at some local place to try and kill time and to perhaps find inspiration for something to do. It had been the wild girl's idea and of course, her shyer friend had resigned to just letting herself be dragged along.

''You can't just whine about not having anything else to do when you're like this!'' Feli was smirking slightly at her friend from over her glass of juice, giggling quietly. ''If you tune out people by always reading books, they won't come to you so you won't have friends who'll invite you to do things or expose you to things you could do!''

''I can't help it,'' helplessly complained the ravenhead, looking down and mixing the ice in her own glass using her straw. ''You should be able to relate, you read too!''

''Yeah, well,'' the older person flushed faintly in embarrassment as she tugged at her hair, ''I write more than I read, you know that and... Well, I guess it's not as bad for me since I'm not as shy as you are.''

Being the easily-distracted girl she was, Feli, spotting a guy that was apparently to her liking taking the order of other customers, gave out a low hum, a small smile creeping onto her lips as her eyelids dropped ever so faintly. ''Mmm, now look at what we got here...''

Of course, Christina was unfazed by the sudden change in subject, used to her friend's jumping around from one idea to the next. Most people would have a hard time keeping up with her line of thought, but her hyperactive buddy Bart had already given her all the migraines she needed to have grown adapted to this kind of behavior.

Moments later, Feli was back to reality, seeing as the guy had moved out of her field of vision. Noticing Christina's amused expression, ''What? Can't appreciate a guy's physique?'' Raising a brow, ''It's not like you don't notice guys yourself. Or do you?''

''N-No,'' the now-embarrassed young adult quickly intervened, averting her gaze ever so slightly. ''Of course not. I-I'm just not as inclined as you are to openly admire them like that. It'd be embarrassing...''

''As if.'' Feli rolled her eyes although, judging her smile, she was only playing around. She was well aware that she was one of a kind. And even if she wasn't, her timid Christina would never be able to just eye-fuck guys like she did. ''But if you do notice them... Why don't you get a boyfriend?''

''W-What??'' Christina sat up straight in her chair, her face now resembling a cute tomato. ''A boyfriend?''

''Yeah, totally!'' Shooting her a grin, ''It wouldn't be hard! You're cute and sweet. You know, a guy's bound to notice you one day. Well,'' with a thoughtful hum, ''you'd have to be looking up from your book to actually see him coming your way.''
