All my life I have grown up with nothing. I had to survive on scraps to actually help provide myself. When you are only just starting out in the world, it's not such a good idea to go in by yourself. Everyone needs at least one person to help them at first. I had no one. This is my story of how I changed that.

Chapter 1:

"Mora! What are you still doing here?" Becky asked as I piled the cans on top of each other as fast and neatly as I could. "Working. I need extra cash for this week." I replied as I kept stacking. "Mora, I can just give you the money. You don't need to work your ass off like this." Becky sighed.

"Yes, I do. You need to keep your family fed, Becky. I am one person. I don't need as much as you do." I stopped and looked into Becky's big brown eyes. "But you deserve more baby. Now go. You've worked three hours passed your timeline and through your break. You deserve at least forty dollars extra." Becky scoffed.

I smiled and grabbed my backpack, "Thanks Becky. You're the best." I sprinted out the door and down the block to my next job. What Becky doesn't know won't hurt her, right?

Hi, my name is Mora Carmen. I'm twenty-years-old and I work two jobs a day. My job at a grocery store with my manager, Becky, and a job bartending at a club. I have been working almost my whole life. I ran away from home when I was eight. My gaurdians were abusive drunks who didn't know shit about raising a child. So, I took raising myself into my own hands. I didn't need a family. I can take care of myself.

When I got to the club, Glo, I went to the back and got changed. I pulled my dirty blonde hair into a ponytail and headed to the bar. Tonight was a really busy night for Glo. It was a Friday night, enough said.

This is the night where people come, get drunk, and pretty much have sex on the dancefloor. What a great job right? The only reason why I have this job is because one of my friends in high school works here. She's a bartender too but she works during the week. Lucky bitch.

"Can I get a beer?" a guy asked as I made my way behind the counter. He had brown eyes and  short, dirty blond to brown hair. His skin was fair and he reminded me of a fluffy teddy bear. In a good way of course.

"Type?" I asked as I made my way towards him. "Surprise me." he smiled. I nodded and got to work. "So, is this place always like this?" he asked as I handed him his drink.

I shrugged, "Only on Fridays' and Saturdays' really. You know, nights where people go out and shit." He laughed at my response,

"You must love this job."

I smiled, "Only here to see the bar fights, hun." As I was helping another person, he followed my stance.

"Do people play live here?" he asked as he motioned to our stage in the back. I nodded as I pulled out the margarita mix. "During the week this club is usually more relaxed. People play live and stuff. We're just like other clubs, you know." I smiled,

"Cool. I have a band, maybe we can play here sometime?" he asked.

"Don't look at me, talk to the owner." I laughed, he chuckled. "Maybe a girl can hook me up?" I stared at him for a moment,

"Doubt he will listen to me, but I can try. Mora Carmen." I stuck out my hand towards him as I handed the woman her margarita with the other. "Gabe Barham." he said as he shook my hand.

"What do you play in your band?" I asked, popping beer caps by the dozen. "Drums." he replied as he stole one away fom my grip and took a swig. "You know you have to pay for that and the person for another beer, right?" I laughed. He looked at the person next to him with an apologetic look and ordered him another beer.

Suddenly, Gabe's phone rang. He looked up at me, "Anwser it!" I demanded. "Oh yeah!" he smiled and whipped out his phone. "Hello?"

"Where the hell are you man!?" I heard a guy yell from his phone. "Calm down, Jesse. I'm at Glo. Where are you?" Gabe asked. I giggled at his response, stupid boys.

"With Kellin and Jac- GABE BABY COME BACK TO ME!" I broke into a laughing fit when I heard someone scream to him through the phone. "I miss you too Jacky-Poo!" Gabe cried, receiving weird looks from others I might add.

"Okay, I'll meet you guys at my place. Bye." Gabe sighed after he hung up. "Some bromance you got going on there, huh?" I chuckled as I cleaned some shot glasses. His face lit up with embrassment, "No, no, no, no! He's just a friend! I am not gay!" he stuttered.

"Whatever. Don't you have some friends to meet up with?" I asked. He nodded and took a last swig of his beer. "Here," he took out a piece of paper and a pen, "my number. Call me later." I thanked him as I ran out the door and to wherever he was headed too.

Weird kid. Can't wait to see him again.
