"Anyone seen my phone?" I asked struggling to put on my tie running round the marble mansion like a headless chicken like always. "Come here stop running you'll get sweat patches and stink Rhett" the head maid smiled stopping me and helping me do up my tie. "Thanks Rachel, have you seen my phone though?" I asked and she rolled her eyes "honestly if this place wasn't so big I wouldn't have a problem trying to find it" she laughed "if you didn't keep losing it you wouldn't have to look, have you checked the kitchen you were making cheese toasties in there earlier" she smiled and I grinned running towards the kitchen nearest to the pool "stop running" she yelled after me. I swore as I came to a halt at the door of the kitchen. I had accidently left the door open and one of the flamingos had wondered in. I grabbed my phone off the side silently and backed out pretending to have never seen it.
I jogged back to the main door to meet my father with his head down in his phone. "Mr Falco the car has arrived round the front," Trey his body guard announced and my dad walked out without saying anything. "You ok? You're little sweaty" Trey slapped a had on my shoulder. "Yeah lost my phone and um something about a flamingo" I mumbled the last bit so he couldn't hear me that well. "Flamingo?" He asked just as we heard a scream. I walked out of the door Trey following not looking back.
"Hey Chris" I waved at the chauffeur who was almost sixty. "Heya kiddo," he grinned closing the door of the SUV behind me.
"Derek just texted me about the Flamingo Rhett, we've discussed the leaving the doors open" I scrunched up my eyebrows "that was Derek's scream?" Trey snickered from the front seat.
"It's time you took things seriously and that's why-" i cut him off "I'm coming with you to work today I know, why can't I just go to school though, I'm not eighteen yet" I sighed and he shook his head. "Age means nothing I know seven year olds I trust more than you. Youth is a state of mind and fortunately for me alot of my competitors fail to realise that and don't maximise potential. First rule of buisness. Never underestimate" he said and I nodded.
"Our first meeting is with the school district" Falco said and I nodded. "Good ethics is good buisness," we hopped out the SUV and I patted down my expensive suit. We stood in front of a large high school which had hundreds of cars parked up out the front. Some dribbles of students still wandered in where as most people had headed to class already. It brought up a faint memory of the foundling place but I pushed it away. We headed inside and was immediately greeted by the principle.
"Hello hello welcome welcome great to see you, oh hello pleasure. Welcome to Liberty high school and this must be..?" The chubby jolly man trailed off. I reached out my hand and shook his "Rhett Falco" I said plainly. Falco nodded "my son" the principle nodded "Oh yes yes yes. Please follow me Mr Falco." The man speedily walked down the halls. I hung back and looked into the windows of the classroom doors. There was about six or seven rows of students all looking tired and bored as a teacher spoke. The classrooms were brightly decorated but held dust from long lost passion of teaching. I eventually was able to slip away from the group and found myself walking into a gymnasium. There was a discarded basket ball which I picked up and started bouncing. I ran towards the hoop and took a shot. I decided to take my tie and suit jacket off. I was left alone for about half an hour before a little boy ran in his trainers squeaking. He didn't pay attention to me as he dived under the benches and stayed perfectly still.
Suddenly a woman ran in her high heels tapping away. She looked out of breath but also shocked when she saw me. "Oh my apologies Mr Falco. I had no idea you were in here" she done a bow or curtsy thing and I just stated at her "by any chance have you seen a little boy running around here about six years old" she asked still slightly panting.
"I don't think so" I said huskily and she seemed to stumble a little in her heels. "Thank you very much sir" she said backing out of the gym bowing. I rolled my eyes and shot the hoop again. Then I said loudly "if I'm covering for you I wanna know why kid" but he didn't answer just stayed hidden. I went over to the benches he was hiding under and lied down so I was next to him. His head turned away to face the other way. Then I had a thought. "¿Estás bien chico?" I asked and his head turned round to face me. He shook his head sideways. "¿Hablas inglés?" I asked and he shook his head. "¿por qué te escondes?" He shrugged and I sat on the floor with crossed legs. "Do you like school?" I asked him in Spanish and he shrugged. I sighed "Why are you hiding?" I asked again "is there someone you need to hide from?" To this he thought and nodded his head. "You wanna tell me who?" I tried but he shook his head. I smiled, "Maybe for a Twix?" I asked pulling one out of my pocket. His eyes lit up and a small hand reached out to grab it. I grinned "You gonna tell me? Or am I eating the Twix?" I teased and he slid out a bit further trying to grab it. "Dame el chocolate tonto tonto" I laughed and shook my head. "mi maestro está loco ella corre por todas partes pánico. She keeps be mean." He struggled in English and I nodded throwing him the Twix. "You can't hide forever" I said and he muttered "me espiaréis"
