"Thankyou for agreeing to this" my father smiled at me patting my back which I instantly recoiled from. "This isn't for you, as soon as we're... you know, I'm out of here I don't care if she's nice or pretty I want out of this hell hole" I growled as Angelina attempted to fiddle with my bow tie. "There here" one of the guards said and we straightened up as the doors opened as we greeted the guests. "Ahh President Mcarals it is a pleasure to see you again. My sincerest apologies on our lateness. Oh and how wonderful your family look, oh and a new addition I see" he grins his arms open wide. He instantly filled and controlled the space controlling the atmosphere. He shook my hand "and you are the man who is to marry my daughter, I was so pleased when your father gave me the answer a few days ago. This alliance will make us invincible." He grinned. I smiled falsely wishing I was anywhere else. Then I could see his daughter. She stepped out and we both sucked in a breath. "Brentha?" I asked and she went red. "What are you doing here I..." I trailed off. "You've met already?" My father asked in confusion.

"Yes we've bumped into each other at a hotel, we sat across from one another" she lied. I nodded. "A time ago now" I said pretending to add detail but not really.

We had in actual fact met at a music festival in India. It was the famous week of celebration. I couldn't remember the festival name but it was one of the best parties of my life. She and my group of friends hung around in the VIP yurt and ended up merging. We had snuck round the back of the yurt and kissed.

"Ah good then this should speed up things" the King grinned.

We sat and drank tea all afternoon Sofie, Brentha and I nearly died of boredom. I wouldn't say Brentha was a goody goody but she struggled to rebel with the alien nature of it.

"Perhaps" I cut in "I can take the ladies for ice cream in the park," I smiled Sofie chimed in "that sounds delightful" she smiled innocently. Brentha nodded "it would be lovely to expirience the Washington air" she said politely.

We headed out walking. People had heard the King of India was in town and outside the gates the WhiteHouse were more packed then usual. I dressed in a non conspicuous hoodie and the girls nice tops and big hats. Sofie eventually and reluctantly went and got the ice cream after some convincing and I leaned into Brentha. "What the hell? You lied to me, you said your dad was a buisnessman" I growled and she growled back "says the Presidents son who said daddy was also a buisnessman. You can't blame me" she said and I sighed "I didn't know he was my dad till recently, why do you think you've never heard or seen anything of me. He only brought his bastard son back into his life so he could marry the Princess and heir of India." She looked down. "It's a bad situation from both sides. But it could be worse. At least we know each other a little." She shrugged. I nodded in agreement. "I missed you, even though I didn't really know you. It was my first kiss" she said "me too, I didnt really get that kind of freedom with my other dad, there was always security" I said and she said "ugh you know" we both started giggling. Sofie came back with the ice creams that were completely the wrong order except hers, but me and Brentha didn't care. We sat close to each other on the grass, our hands almost touching. We stole glances at each other.

As days passed our father's negotiated the deals and the union and alliance between the countries. Brentha and I stayed close when I got out of school we'd go out to the park or hang around the WhiteHouse. It wasn't the worst thing in the world and I could cope and she could too. We agreed to be open and cynical about our father's conniving tendencies.

They'd caught us laying out in one of the WhiteHouse lounges, I was watching TV but not really. Brentha had her head rested on my stomach, curled up reading a book.

"What are you doing laying around here?" Ger said breathlessly bursting into the room. I sat up slightly careful not to push away Brentha. "What are you talking about" I asked and Brentha looked down. "Brentha?" I looked to both of them. "Uh I thought you'd been told." Ger said rubbing his head "The wedding has been brought forward to tonight, Brenthas mom is sick and wants to see her daughter before she passes" he said quietly. I looked to Brentha who had said only hours earlier that there was no talk of the wedding and was probably far enough away. She'd known. "How long?" I asked quietly. She didn't look at me. "How long have you known?" I asked again and she answered this not looking up. "I- I- a few days ago. You were so happy I didnt want to..." she got so quiet she didn't bother continue. I shook my head and stormed out slamming the door behind me.

Ger followed me "Hey man don't blame her she didn't change it" he tried to calm me down but I was angry. Too angry. "She was meant to be the only one I could trust. A safe contact between the two sides. We were meant to be there for eachother" I said leaning back against the wall. I started hyperventilating.

Brentha came out of the room timidly but I looked away trying to controll myself. "I don't want to see her" I managed to get out between gasps. Some other security came out and they escorted her away. Ger kept most of them back.

I managed to just abouts get a hold of myself. I shuffled myself up the wall trying to walk but my breathing was still uneven. I managed to stumble back to my room and slammed the door shut behind me. Hanging up was a suit, it was simple elegant jet black. It had a single night shade leaf pinned to the breast. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the door. Soon there was a knock and I opened my eyes. The sun was much lower in the sky now. I opened the door and people in uniforms piled in. Angelina stepped in timidly after them. "What's this?" I ask groggily. I must have slept a while. "It's the prep team" she said gently. "It'll be over soon, just an hour or two and you'll be free Link, I know you never wanted to stay here and I kidded myself thinking that I could get you to like it, but I understand, this isn't a place for children, I just wonder when Sofie will want to run and leave, and never want to see this place again" she said looking down. I sighed running a hand through my hair then hugged her and she fell into me immediately. She started sobbing. A few minuets and a damp t-shirt later she lifted off. "Oh look at me being silly. You're all grown up and getting married," she sniffled. I smiled gently at her and rubber her back. I broke away and sat at a vanity chair. They immediately attacked me pinning me down as I reluctantly complied to their impossible demands of keeping my 'head straight and looking forward' buy also leaning 'to the left and up a bit'.

But now; now it was time.
