The next day Victoria, after throwing up countless times that morning, decided that it was time for some girl time. So after Chad left to go to his house for some fresh clothes, a refreshing shower, and just a visit so his mom didn't go crazy, Victoria had called Emmie and asked if she wanted to go to the mall.
Of course Emmie had agreed, the mall was like the girl's second home. So that is why Victoria is here, at the food court of the mall, listening as Emmie went on and on about a cute boy she saw the other day. She picked at her food, not really in the mood to eat, and internally battled with herself whether or not to tell her best friend that she was back with Chad or not. The girl had a right to know, it was girl code.
"Emmie" she started to say, but Emmie cut across her with another tale about how Amber might have a boyfriend. Sh watched in silence as the other girl went into a rant about how her friends had a guy and she didn't. Victoria knew that if she didn't stop her soon, the tears would come along with the questions about if she was pretty or not.
"Emmie." she tried again with more force to get the girl across from her to stop talking for a minute. When her friend looked at her with surprised confusion in her eyes Victoria took that as a cue to continue. "Dallas and I broke up..."
Insert large gasp from Emmie here. "NO!" the girl screeched, cutting across what Victoria was saying and not allowing her to continue. Emmie started to ramble on and on about how the two of them made such a good couple and what a shame it was that they broke up.
"Emmie" Victoria said once her friend stopped to take a breath. "I'm okay, I'm really not that upset." She sighed knowing what she was about to say would be the death of her. "And Chad and I are back together." she mumbled.
Her friend sat quietly making Victoria think that she hadn't heard what was just said. She was about to open her mouth to repeat it again when Emmie spoke.
"Wow. Bomb shell much? I mean why, how, and when did this happen?"
Victoria then told her about the miscarriage, the fact that Dallas went missing, how Chad had comforted her there, and then it all seemed to go from the fact that Chad was actually nice to her for once. Emmie sat in another round of silence when she was finished speaking. Only then did it dawn on Victoria that her friends didn't know that she had lost her baby, boyfriend, and quit possibly, her mind all in one week.
Guilt over washed her, she was a terrible friend and she knew it. How did her friends even put up with her? "I'm so sorry Emmie. With all that happened I forgot that you guys didn't know what has happened in my crazy life in the last week. It will never happen again."
"Oh honey, I'm not mad. From what it sounds like you had one hell of a week. But also one hell of a rebound. My only question is; does Chad really make you happy?"
"Yeah, Em, I think that I never stopped loving him. And to be honest, I don't think that I ever loved or had feeling for Dallas."
Emmie let this sink in with silence.
Two hours later Victoria was telling Chad all that had happened at the mall with her best friend. He didn't seem surprised that she had told her friend about all that had happened. In fact he seemed surprised that she hadn't told them sooner, which made the guilt that Victoria already had increase.
Chad had surprisingly listened to every word that she said, something that was really surprising. The man is full of those things now.
And she couldn't be happier with the improvements that he had made. Maybe loosing her was the thing he needed to see that he needed to change his ways.
But did he really care for her as much as he claims?
